brightening the lower strings while brightening the higher ones
Was that intended? (I don't know enough about music to tell... but in terms of the language it doesn't feel right.)

Al wandered over to Greg, who was enjoying the music with Annie and a few other members of the party. Crooking a finger, he pulled him a few feet away, where the high volume would mask their talk.

"After the party but sometime soon, we need to have a talk with our young friend on the bandstand."

Sarge thought a moment, and asked, "OK, why? He's done a great job so far."

"I heard him commenting on us to another member of the band as 'elder members'. This is simply NOT on. I may be old and grey but I am hardly an elder as you found out the last time we went to the sparring mat."

Sarge scowled. " Sparring mat - Oh, yes...I went easy on you, 'Grampa'." Greg made quotes in the air at the word Grampa. "Considering the job they're doing I'm inclined to cut him some slack on this. After all, this is a serious piece of work he and his team have pulled off."

Al concurred, but continued "I don't disagree - it's stellar - but that type of familiarity breeds contempt. Next, he'll be making jokes about Ensure breaks, Zimmer frames and the proper size of Depends."

"Al, hell, WE make those jokes to each other."

"Nonetheless, a prank or two will be in order. One can't let the younger generation disrespect us - after all, it's not like we really DO use Zimmer frames or incontience pads - or at least I don't." he said, eyeing Greg.

"Smile when you say that. However, I see your point. Something will need to be done." Nodding to each other, they returned to the appreciative crowd and again enjoyed the music.

"So you finally managed to get her to sleep, then?" Suzi asked as she sipped on her Bloody Mary.

"Yep - though I'd never have thought that Benadryl could knock a sphinxlet out like that."

"Yeah, normally she minds me," Sarah interjected, "but tonight - ugh! She was just a terror!"

"Sometimes she just needs a little jump start," Phix said. "Brian told me he had to do something similar at times with Shelly, especially after Bia did her little disappearing trick." It was barely perceptible to those who didn't know, but Phix gritted her teeth slightly upon naming her "daughter-in-law."

"Of course, you know what this means," Neil spoke casually. "You and Sarah are bound to our little bundle."

"What?"

"Well," Neil downed the rest of his drink and placed the glass down. "Remember what happened with myself and Phix."

Sarah and I looked at him in horror.

Of course Suzi is drinking a Bloody Mary . . .

Why do I expect it's made with type A?

Pretty nearly. I think it's just lymphing along at this point, and nobody nodes when to say "enough!"

I'd hoped we were done, but apparently my hopes were in vein.

Maybe if we make an appeal in the name of the globule forum community? Then again, if "those" punsters will accept nothing less than the world on a plate, let's give it to them, then...

If not, we can always mount a resistance... Plasma rifle, anyone?

(But let's not ask Artur: he's busy...)
