Actually, I just realized that for some reason, I wasn't visualizing a leaf blower, but a snowblower . . . --FreeFlier {ponders} Now THAT might be an interesting experiment, especially with a 2-stage machine. In that case, one could say that the shite hit the fan by design! Thank you very mulch, th...

I'll be over here in the corner kicking myself for missing it.

My sister's first husband was into off-road driving - in mountainous, heavily-wooded territory - and explained to me that the advantage of 4-wheel drive is that you can get stuck deeper in the woods. As I used to teach my students: "Four wheel go does not mean four wheel stop. You have four wh...

We lucked out here. Only 3 inches of snow with rain at the end. I didn't have to shovel at all. My town is proof against snow accumulation this year. My old snowblower destroyed its engine (repairable but I don't feel like wasting the time/money on a 10+ year old machine) . I ended up buying an obs...

It occurred to me late last night, while I was in the middle of something only partially related, that Al (the character) was wrong about one thing. Only one thing? Old git's doing well. He not only should have insisted his interns spend some time driving the vehicle on the track, he should have in...

OPUS!

Opus, mate - let's talk about grit. Diamond grit, specifically.

What kind of grit ranges are you getting on average? I need a kilo or so of 1000-grit - my last supplier has dried up on me and going back to carborundum is just not on for the tumbler and hand fitting.

Talk to me, mate....

Seems as if an engine refit could benefit from operating-room protocols. One needs a medical assistant (akin to a circulating nurse) to keep track of the location and use of every single surgical sponge rag and clamp. Actually, it's usually not an issue if one has any discipline at all. As I have s...

CHAPTER 7 The next morning the five again gathered in the bay.
