Re: More Stuff

I should have said "don't wear red either ", but for most other kinds of hunting wearing red or blaze orange is legally required (for those who don't know). Neon pink cammo is a favorite of some of the ladies around here, and is covered by the hunting rules as a "bright color" A...

These are my boobs, they're soft and bouncy
And sometime they're pointy
Because I am a female mammal
If you don't like it, too bad!

Want some cleavage? Hoist 'em up!
That will stop the wobble
But if you ever get them out
You might just cause some trouble!

I'd say the reference is in comparison to the "Delicate Flower" vs an item that's so well protected it needs to be unwrapped several layers worth to get to the delicate part!

Re: More Stuff

It's good to have some stuff that's not cammo in your kit, especially if it's important. I recall a tale of an Air Force pilot who had to eject over a forested area. He landed without injury. During the process of sorting out his survival kit, he put down a knife, then spent the next full hour searc...

A few bricks short of a load?

A tuxedo with brown shoes?

Re: More Stuff

I stand corrected about Kee Bird. Close but no cigar on that recovery. IIRC, Glaicer Girl is a P-38 G, noted by the sloping intake under the propeller. The P-38 J and later models had improved oil and intercooler systems which changed this intake to a "chin" visible here. Also, my dad! 318...

Not up on Linux very much, but I do like the origin stories and abbreviations used as commands.

A fun one is BIFF - for Bark If Forward Found, regarding a mail notification causing an alert. Woof!

The commands are much easier to remember if you know the mnemonic behind them.

Yes, Pink cammo is great in desert areas. And keep in mind that Persian Gulf submarines are a bright blue because the water is so shallow, the blue matches the water. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lAahYrN47-k/ULdq2qdTH9I/AAAAAAAAVaQ/NVzwbOl68mM/s1600/Islamic+Republic+of+Iran+Navy+%2528IRIN%2529%252C+Gh...

I prefer to believe that the RAF was simply responding to wartime shortages, and decided not to issue an adequate amount of sunblock to those Spitfires. The chance that a Spitfire would survive long enough in combat to develop skin cancer was negligible. The (un)official rumor was that they were al...

Re: More Stuff

When you mentioned Flecktarn cammo, I flashed on the WWI German hexagonal aircraft cammo. You don't need subdued colors to be effective when breaking up outlines! If you've got a bright, vivid environment, then you use bright, vivid camouflage. I've seen vehicles painted bright pink, because they w...
