Re: Doing it right...

Al, hearing this, was overcome with a wave of relief. This had been a worring thought in the back of his mind for weeks - he outranked Greg but decidedly did NOT want the job of commanding this mess. The thought of sticking Neil with the job hadn't occurred to either of them despite the discussions ...

Re: Peanut Butter Kisses 2015-10-30

You do know by standard military language of a statue- if the horse has four hooves on the ground, the rider came through unscathed- one hoof raised, he was wounded in battle- TWO hooves raised, he was KILLED in battle! As we say around here, I'll go to bed less stupid, tonight... ;) In this case, ...

Re: Time Together 2015-11-2

A series of highly alarming sounds roar from inside the Pun Jar, muffled slightly by the indestructible reality barriers between this universe and the one within the jar. Soon, the jar is heated to a blindingly bright, white glow and the walls tremble and quake, flexing under the onslaught from wit...

"Lickity splits"? Pun Jar is waiting Sarge - and it's always impatient . Deposits a Lanthian nuclear powered Symbian complete with all 73 attachments and three after-market devices for two other sentient species. GREAT! See if it has any autonomic responses! We need to do some stimulus-re...

Re: Doing it right...

Later that evening in the Great Room, Al pulled a two-legged Daisy aside to a quiet spot. She had taken to spending more and more time in human form, a bit more each day to "get used to it for the wedding". Al was not at all blinded by this, knowing that it was her excuse to alow her to ge...

Re: Doing it right...

Entering the great room, they walked straight through to the kitchen, to run straight into a distressed Rosalita. After accepting her concerns and stating yes, he was all right he asked for and got a small plate of pastries and a large mug of coffee. Daisy joined him at the counter, the two of them ...

His name was Jan McManus Robertson - sometime and long ago member of the Special Forces and dishonorably discharged, then a mercenary, then a resident of the Twin Cities living on his wits and little else. With that his morals, shaky to begin with had sunk to anything for a dollar, and tonight was n...

Re: Peanut Butter Kisses 2015-10-30

Gisaultees, hmmm? The only time we've heard that name was when Shellynx mentioned him (or her) to Shelly-1 in the Time Forest. A great adventurer, and apparently a war-leader of some sort. Known to the paras, but forgotten by mundanes (maybe unsurprising... 6000 years or more is quite a while). Any...

Grew up with Mary Jane candy and NECCO Wafers back in the 1960s. If you've got any loose fillings in your teeth, a Mary Jane will yank it right out for you, no problem. Do they still make NECCO Wafers? Ohyeah. I still see them at the grocery. Loved those things when I was a kid. Come to think of it...

Re: Peanut Butter Kisses 2015-10-30

Mary Jane is a peanut butter and molasses flavored taffy-type candy with peanut butter in the center. Originally made in 1914 by The Charles N. Miller Co., and later by Stark Candy Co., it is now manufactured by Necco. NECCO is actually an acronym: New England Confectionery Company. And all quite g...

Re: Doing it right...

Again at the desk, book open and Cross pen out, Al pondered his journal. His mind was awash in sights, sounds and experiences - what to document and what to lay by for further consideration? He laughed ruefully - no one would ever see this so why was he being so pompous about it? "Tin-plated Co...

Re: Doing it right...

Al sat at the desk in his comfortably furnished room, thanking various deities that he'd drawn the quiet spot at the far back of the house. Isolated from the rest. It suited his generally singular tastes well, with dresser, desk, chairs and comfortable bed. The windows showing a broad swathe of past...
