I follow the Girl Genius strip online and while the creators do print runs, they also leave an archive up for their work, much like Wapsi. One thing that they've began doing the last few years has been generating e-book copies through DriveThruComics. I use DriveThru for other things as well...e-boo...

Been following the strip for a while...it impressed me from the get-go. And continues to do so.
