Poor Kath is probably wishing she'd never gotten that door open when she left the house this morning... And everyone wonders why she's reclusive!!!

Consider, Atsali is an orphan. Kath has quickly become a mentor. I'm betting the poor girl is starved for any kind of maternal affection. And Kath is soft and feminine. I think what Atsali wants are busty mom hugs here.

Maybe Mayan, maybe Inca, Lantan, Olmec, or Aztec. All used that style of building can't see enough to pick. The shapes of the wall carvings resembles those cultures. Local vegetation appears to be Jungle. Given those this could be a smaller temple of the Jaguar rather than one of the larger ones. If they were communication centers than why not transportation centers as well. The Lantan tech has clues that they were capable of this. They were probably who made the portal cloth that ended up on Shelly?

There is also the possibility they are no longer on earth. One of the tribes in the area Kath was in did just disappear leaving little or no trace of where they went. Best guess is they just migrated due to climate changes but in this universe they could have gone elsewhere.

I still think that, at age fifteen, Atsali is just about due for her first real girl crush.

Beyond the merely circumstantial or corroborating, I see no non-verbal visual evidence of any actual crushing going on.

Poor Kath. How is she even able to move still? There is far more to her than meets the eye. A normal person would be doubled over in pain unable to move any longer.

And Atsali, you would think with a wingspan like that she could have zipped through the portal and stopped herself from falling down those long stairs. Maybe even saved Kath the bruises her bruises have.

THen again, if I could land like that I'm not sure i would stop myself either.

And contrary to many, I think Atsali is more looking for that mom figure, not crushing on Kath. It's how most orphans my family has dealt with reacted to my mom when they stayed with us for short periods. Just mom, not crush.

Olmec, Mayan, or Oompa-loompa, the place is well maintained. Somebody will be around shortly to see what all the thumping was about!
