Her distaste for higher math is a trifle ab surd, isn't it?

Although, I do remember that my college had a tendency to schedule all of the advanced engineering math courses at 8 AM. I've never been sure whether that was a deliberate attempt to haze and break the not-sufficiently-stubborn, or whether the teachers had offended the school administration somehow, or what. In any case, I can state that trying to do complex math proofs at 8:15, after having walked across campus in a snowstorm, was certainly an evil-character-building experience.

The point of story problems is to learn to extract the relevant data . . . Mr's Smith's name is usually irrelevant, but the miles and times are very relevant. Real-world problems don't come all neatly sorted out.

I once set my hair on fire trying to light a cigarette while rushing to an 8:00 math class . . . . 🙄😁

I could not pass my 0730 calculus class, but I aced my 1700 calc for computers class where I wrote a BASIC program to derive an equation and another to integrate equations. The content of the afternoon class was the same as the morning one just later in the day. The morning class just didn't line up with my circadian rhythm.
