I think I've figured out why Monica no longer looks like Monica any more - yesterday and today's comic. No lip lines, no V nose shadow, and nose bridge is changed.

Without them I couldn't tell her from some of the other High School characters.

Styles change and grow, but dropping design artifacts can really affect recognition.
Don't let other peoples limitations become your constraints!

Also I think M has regenerated again, that drastically changes her appearance.

Also Shelly is a sick cat, not a delicate kitten. Sick cats must never be disturbed but kittens can be relocated out of the way, carefully if you think they are delicats, but very relocatable. I would go so far as to label Shelly a senior cat at 80k YO. even though her trip through the Time Forest brought her back to her mid-20s YO body.
