TWO - Nudge's deepest fear is...taking a bath. Which is understandable, considering Mum's* methods. But I'm left wondering: What could a being possibly do, to get so dirty that only a volcanic spa treatment will clean her??

The name of this comic is "Good Enough".

Well, several things answered (with much relief and laughter!) and more new questions!

What I really want to know (I think) is... if "lava" is the answer to "Mom's idea of a proper but unwanted cleansing bath for a young lady", then what was "Mom's equivalent to 'Wash out your mouth with soap, young lady, if you don't behave yourself'"?

Based on what we know of Nudge, it probably didn't work... she never did learn to be ladylike!

Ha ha ha! Awesome. I've had cats that like to stand under/in lava, though.

Also, I won't shout about thread naming rules, but if they're suspended, I'm just going to tease whatever title the poster made up by making up my own.

Is she also Charon's daughter? Do they share the same set of parents? Or are they half-sisters? In which case, do they share the same dad, Charon, or the same mother?
And also, if they're half-sisters, who are the other parents?

One thing that I've realized in this story arc is that your greatest fear is not necessarily something that can kill you or do you the worst harm.

It appears (based on a quick Google search or two) that written mythology doesn't record Charon having a wife. So, Paul gets to surprise us (and I have little doubt that he'll have fun doing so).

There aren't that many women among the Greek Powers who were clearly associated with the underworld. Persephone, of course, but she and Hades seem to have been pretty much an item (not so much by her choice, of course).

I have a vague (and probably-wrong) hunch that Hecate might be a player here. Old chthonic goddess (hence with some underworld connections), granddaughter of Titans, powerful, respected, and her special associations included thresholds and gates. She also "came to be associated with ghosts, infernal spirits, the dead and sorcery" says the Wikipedia. Seems like a plausible mate for a psychopomp like Charon, and a possible parent for a shadowy figure like Tsillah (who has yet to say "plugh", by the way).

I would gather Tsillah and Nudge share that mom Nudge is talking about. I've suspected Nudge and Shelly were half-sisters, so that would be one answer...

I doubt that Nudge and Tsillah share a dad in Charon. But with Titans, you never know.

Don't think so. Tsillah has referred to Charon as "daddy" a few times.

But again, with Titans.... metamorphs do as they please.

She uses gender ambigous vocabulary with Charon, here and the next four. But Charon has been, in my experience, always referred to as a male spirit.

That is a very good question. This is about the third time in as many weeks. It is becoming very annoying and detracts from the enjoyment of both Paul's efforts and the insights of other posters.

One really has to question the motivation for deliberately going against the guidelines. It can't be accidental. I understand the citizens of Utah are known to be conservative but it seems some may also be obstinate and possibly even anti-social. I thought this forum was setup so we could all play nice and added moderation to ensure that we all do. So how does one handle a moderator that doesn't want to play nice himself?

I almost feel like we should create another thread with the proper topic and force the issue. I suggest that at least everyone refuse to reply to any new thread that does not follow the guidelines.

The father is probably Charron. By a comment from Phix Nudge predates the other gods so it her mother is not T's mother. So they are half sisters. That makes Charron a player, but a lot of the gods were. Nudge's mother may not even be a titan at all. I could be wrong but that's my take on it.

Cats hate water, but I don't think goats do. So it has to be Mom's influance, aftger all Nudge can be a real stinker.
