The armstice to end the "War To End All Wars" was signed 100 years ago on 11 November 1919.

I salute all of our veterans who have served their countries in the name of freedom. Special thanks go to our board vets, Sarge and Al. Thank you for your service.

Armistice took effect 11/11/1918. Or is there something about the 1919 date I am unaware of? There's always something!

My dad's dad was in the Army in 1918, though wasn't shipped overseas due to the Armistice. There's a photo of thousands of soldiers formed up to make an image of the Statue of Liberty. His dad is somewhere in the photo...

Ah, my bad - it's the 100th anniversary of the first Armstice Day - aka Veterans Day in the US.

btw- I'm sitting here at the keyboard, sipping a very hopped-up IPA.
I have ribs on the grill doing a slow-dance w/ nearby combustion, and now that I mention it I need to go check them soon.

I enjoy a relatively peaceful existence and even w/ my formative years including protests against the War in South East Asia,
(I need to ask my Photag-Stepmom if she has a picture of the sign we had nailed up across the garage...)

I still salute those who serve; both Home and Abroad.

PS- One of the local theaters was revived by an HP Heir and plays any manner of Old Film. The current program is entitled:

80 Years Ago in This Theatre: The Films of 1939

Now, granted, that's 20 years after the end of WWI, but still- it's what the generation who endured, and their offspring, would have been Netflixing/YouTubeing at the time...

All that heavy use of LSD in the 1960's caused one of the years in that decade to skip. Scientists have yet to figure out how to re-insert it back into the timeline.

My dad's dad was "somewhere in France . . ."

He went from the border campaigns to France in 1917.

It needn't even be that, but plain stupidity on someone's part...

At work, they printed next year's calendar (for choosing our vacation weeks), but forgot to add February 29th (next year being a leap year) and ALSO ADDED NOVEMBER 31ST TO THE CALENDAR!!!

They had to dump 3500 copies of the calendar and start over (again, as this was a second mistake found: they had printed another version before, where they forgot to change the year on it, and printed 3500 copies of a 2019 calendar with 2020 dates on them...)

Yesterday, someone was there for the last time, as she was retiring... and on the certificate they gave her, it said that she would finish working on November 31st, and that she had worked 14 years, when it was actually 15...

Sounds like that outfit should stick to this sort of date...
