It is good to rest aching shoulders!
I looked at this picture of Phix and thought "wot?' She plays electric guitar? Shelly should get her, in that form, to play with Fermented Bananas if the band is still around. They'd kill on the paranormal circuit.

The problem with that is Shelly plays bass as well.

Shoulder BRAKE...
So, he's using his shoulder as "a device for slowing or stopping a vehicle or other moving mechanism by the absorption or transfer of the energy of momentum, usually by means of friction."
I can think of better uses for a shoulder...
If I were him, I'd take a break, instead...

If Katherine sings soprano, then Castela and Timmy can just join right in.
(Not Atsali - there are weird side effects when she sings.)

"It's a put-on!"
Seriously - you're not gonna have a successful band with two bass players. Maybe get Daylla to learn lead guitar? Then they can play...
...heavy metal.
(cue "Scream" intro from "Won't Get Fooled Again")

Scaling that out from Phix's known height in Sphinx mode, that bass is about 14 feet long. Anybody care to calculate the lowest note it can hit if the strings are the same as a regular fretted bass? I'm feeling mighty L-O-O-O-O-O-W

So he's taking a break by slowing down . . .

Dueling basses!
No, no, wait, HARMONIZING basses! Each note perfectly complimenting and merging with the other!

I'm thinking her gig with Disaster Area might be the
real reason Hotblack Desiato spent a year dead.

I don't know about not having two Bassists in the band. I'd think you could have a Lead & a Rhythm Bass.
I'd love to get a band together with Stanley Clarke & Ron Carter and toss in Bootsy Collins for cameo star appeal.
We''l put Stanley Jordan on 'regular' guitar & (at this point I'm leaning towards Pete Pete Escovedo's Latin sound for a percussionist and Carlos Santana's stable for a Conga man...)
The keyboardist in this layer cake would be there just to hold the line, we could keep the position a rotating one where young up-and-comings could intern.
Patti Cathcart (of 'Tuck & Patty' fame) up front, if not Rachelle Ferrell, or both.

So you're saying he's using his shoulder as a brake in order to slow things down so he can take a break to rest his sore shoulder? But won't the shoulder suffer more, from being used as a brake? Then he'll need an even bigger break for the brake!
We're doomed!
When do
we get a break from all this insanity?

And after the show, they can catch a snack at the
Restaurant at the End of the Universe! (Those suicide cows move slowly, you know. Perfect for stalking when tired
and hungry.)

Excellent idea.
That way they'd be less likely to eat any prospective band members who failed the audition. It could be unfortunate to develop a taste for guitarist tartare, as the word would get out after a while and they might have trouble recruiting after that.

Not necessarily. You can change the intonation, which moves the placement of the notes. It's something one has to do when changing the gauge of the strings, for example, or environmental changes result in expansion or contraction of the material in the neck of the instrument.

I thought she already had a bass player. Is she hedging her bets by auditioning for another?
