Dave Swarbrick, Fairport Convention's fiddler {yep, that's where the name comes from} died a couple years back - he had a pretty good run, including a double lung transplant that he lived almost ten years after.Sgt. He - like Fairport's bass player, Dave Pegg, and their buddies in Led Zeppelin, were from Birmingham.
No not in Alabama - the one on the other side of all that salt water.
Several years ago, one of the papers Over There mistakenly published an obit for Swarb when he had been hospitalised but pulled through.
When someone asked him about it, he laughed and said "Wouldn't be the first time I died in Birmingham."
