Ah, yes, the loss of eyesight associated with going from staring at a flame to gazing into the abyss. And trying to identify what is staring back at you.

I have this image of Daylla's face looking like it's slightly melting as she's pondering what happened... it might look like shimmering if you didn't know any better.

And that's why, when you're on watch duty, you are supposed to be sitting with your back to the campfire... Which hardly anyone actually knows or does...

Glendower: I can call spirits from the vasty deep.

Hotspur: Why, so can I, or so can any man; But will they come when you do call for them?

In this case... apparently, yes, at least one of them will.

And there's that tremendous Blackthorn wisdom that she can apply to others but not herself.

Timothy thinks they're going to be able to sleep?

Hiroshi and Shawna are no where to be seen. She's probably helping him bandage his injuries.

Looks to me like Pickle is going from scared kid to global defense mode. This may not bode well for said ghost. There is also the possibility though remote that this was the Chaperones doing this as a lesson in why ghost hunting is a bad idea.

Doesn't Digit at least know about Castela's power? Seems that would suggest that frightening Castela is risky.

Or better still, set the people/things that you are supposed to be watching for alight, and that way you can see them more easily in the darkness!

He's survived several helpings of a panicked Castela's fists already, so I don't think that getting jumped by Shawna will leave him more than a bit pixilated. Not that a lack of injuries would be likely to stop her from deciding that he needs close care and attention.

Digit may indeed be a sassy little prankster at times, but this doesn't really seem like the sort of thing that she and Valerie would do. And I'd be very surprised if the faculty and staff of Gryphon don't at least know as a basic safety precaution that certain students are extremely durable or powerful, even if they don't know the specifics. I remember Ms. Alger looking at the damage that Atsali and Castela had done to one wall, and concluding that Scarlet couldn't have done that; that would mean that Ms. Alger has at least an idea of the relative strengths of some of the students.
