If I could get to youtube from work I'd find Victor Borge's treatise on using sound as punctuation marks in conversation...

That is exactly what I was thinking of.
Phonetic Punctuation

Too funny! I had seen it before, but it is a joy each time...

I totally lost it, at the end: "All she heard, was the familiar sound of his departing horse - No way!" (as he did not want to imply that the sound used for the period (prrrt) would be said sound of departing horse, which would then make it sound like the horse farted as it parted...)

You're not implying that Monica was departing recently?

Yep: She farted, parted, and de-parted...

Places a toot-sweet candy in the pun jar.

With the southerly direction this conversation has taken, a candy called 'Toot Sweets' is kind of scary...

Something occurred to me while I was driving the bus this afternoon (yes, I do on occasion think about webcomics while working :geek: ):

They say that parting is such sweet sorrow, but I've yet to see a single research paper showing even a shred of evidence linking rainbows in general, or rainbow farts in particular, to any degree of sweetness whatsoever.

On the other hand, a rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet...

So somebody needs to tell Monica she's doing it wrong: she needs to be farting roses, not rainbows!

No--she was just marking an emphatic period to her statement.
