The physics of relativity tell us that a fast-moving object actually compresses along the axis of motion, from the point of view of an observer at rest. Digit said that Atsali was moving at a high rate of speed... I wonder just how blue-shifted she was?

Cerenkov radiation might account for Cricket's rather dazzled expression.
