Waaa, pretty deep are we now. (I'll give the poetic license chip to the author for such pithy and eloquent ramblings from a 5th grader...), it's a good story being told.

I suspect most of us will be putting our opinions about Scarlet back together now.

Paul really is the master of bootlegger turns, and situations that are more complex than they seem at first.

(Looks around to see if we have a copy of Sinéad O'Connor's "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" in the house...)

At least we now know what happened to Timmy after Castela used her "outside voice" with him...

She's probably right ... and she's probably some wrong.

After all, she's seeing it through her own filters.

More here than meets the eye. She has a few issues she has to deal with. Her and Pickle are more similar than they think.

Not to mention Timmy's issues. Kid keeps going back to the girl that boots him to the curb at the expense of the girl who gives him nurture. Fast-forward 10 years, and we'll be seeing Timmy in Pickle's basement, chained up in a gimp suit.

I've been in your position, Scarlet. Trust me, he'll never change how he sees you. Keep him as your friend, but look for love somewhere else.

um, yeah... deja vu for sure, but i think it's more along the lines of:

Pickle = Atsali
Timothy = Pickle
and
Scarlet = Thana

Poor Scarlet. She was so interested in the guy, she managed to become his big sister. So now she wants what she can't have.

I don't think anybody's in the "wrong" here per se.

• Pickle was in "boys are gross" mode for years
• Is now in whatever passes for puberty and finds Tim less gross
• Scarlet has this deep emotional connection to Tim
• Feels it is unreciprocated and feels lost.

Typical early-teenager stuff.

Well, Scarlet has more justification for her sense of entitlement/'being owed' than the standard NiceGuy(TM), but she seems to still be using the same line of thinking.

(I'm reminded of the trouble navigating through the 'hard line conduits' in the Matrix series; "Give me 90 Degrees.... Now!".)

Scarlet has the feels, real bad like. It ain't gonna make sense, not for a long while...
