Somebody called it.
=========
Oops. I misinterpreted it at first glance.
What the hell did Shelly do in the Library with that stuff?

But why would you make guac with a mild explosive? It ruins the flavor!

Awwww, man! Thanks so very much, Paul! I'm going to have a
hell of a time getting to sleep tonight.
I just
know my brain is going to be running simulations on about 1500 different versions of mayhem involving those ingredients... each one more disturbing than the one before.

It's a trade-off. If you use a high-brisance explosive, you get too smooth a texture. You want the blast to leave the avocado at least somewhat chunky.

Pyrodex doesn't leave the sulfurous aftertaste of black powder.

Yep.
Without Sam Starfall, this time.
. . .
Then again . . . I'm sure there are stealables in The Library . . .

For chunky you should use RDX or TORPEX

So they're making explosive guacamole slingshots? Are the kiddie pools for aiming at or mixing?

Hmmm -- pools for mixing ingredients, shovel to stir, and -- explosive slingshots filled with sticky bombs?
Oh, joy.... wherever shall they go?
Avacado gernades, anyone?

Right, because EVERYBODY knows the best guac is made with C4!

Consider, also, that the supplies Connie was sent to fetch, may not be all that was involved. Shelly may have used other tools and ingredients that she already happened to have "in stock".
The prank may have been even more disturbing (and yet piquantly flavorful) than we have imagined.

No, she didn't ask me to source a few barrels of nitric oxide... No, I did not assist in synthesizing large batches of high-nitrogen compounds... No, I did not have anything to do with the smoking crater that was the entire modern vampire fiction section.
Why do you ask? Oh, sure, just because I'm missing my eyebrows and my lab coat is on fire, I must have had something to do with this.

*ten minutes ago*
*Glytch, Xera, Paula (from "Mad Science"), Shelly, Connie, and some hapless interns wheeling around drums of fuming nitric acid while singing the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore.*

Does the term "

I don't have any new webcomics to post ... so i gotta get my evil jollies
somewhere.

Well, except for PopChromatic, which is the story of a girl who
doesn't want to audition for a USAian idol group, and her twin sister who
does...
And it looks as if the goth twin who despises idol groups is going to wind up in the group ... while her sister may or may not.

Ah yes, nothing like driving your grandmother into a psychopathic rage. Especially when your grandmother is a Sphinx.
But I wonder if the target of the prank was Phix, or Nudge. Who's a trickster herself, and probably could appreciate a joke. As long as it doesn't involve throwing her into a volcano.
