So this has been happening to me lately. All I want to do is send a pm. That's it. I just wanna send a PM to someone and I keep getting this:

Were you trying to include some odd characters in your message, by any chance? I've had this kind of error in the past, if I tried to include some musical notes. There are several available in Unicode, but only certain ones are permitted by the forum software. Oddly enough, the "unacceptable" ones would show up on Preview, but cause that kind of error when I'd hit Submit...

+1 to this possibility. I have seen the same thing happen. Some Unicode characters just won't go through.

Hmm. I did use an iPad smiley, so maybe that was it.

iPad emojis use 3-4 bytes each; mySQL can only parse 3 bytes.

EBCDIC is old-school. In particular, 026 EBCDIC.
(Youngsters these days... they've got no appreciation for history... half of them probably don't even know what ASR 33 paper-tape chad smells like...)

When it comes to error messages and other irritating no wants to work thingies,this is about the time I start saying bad words, the ones that Jasper associates with she has done something bad and needs to make sure daddy still loves her... because I yelled them at her when she ate the remote control (three times, you think I would have learned) and pooped on the carpet along with other puppy things.

She is an indoor/outdoor dog courtesy of a dog door. She was older than the photo when it first happened, never before had any interest in the device. The first time was a gentle chew that left tooth marks in the plastic. A thorough scolding ensued, new control acquired. The second time she shredded it, nothing swallowed, just simple destruction that earned a louder scolding and much shaking of the largest remaining piece in front of her nose. When I went to the cable TV place to get a new one, the lady asked what happened to the old one. I produced a bag of debris and remarked, "I'm not sure, it just broke...", we shared a chuckle. Now the remote was banished to a drawer whenever we left the house. Then there came the day we forgot to put it away. Yep. Number three. My day had already been lousy and I vented a bit at the dog. Many loud bad words were yelled as I ran her out of the house with a chunk of the remote following her- I never saw the lady walking past the house at that moment, but my daughter said the lady's eyes kinda got big and she kept moving.
The remote now always stays put away while we are gone. And any time I drop an F-bomb, Jasper gets a little nervous and comes to me wondering what she has done wrong. The remote business happened when she was a year or so old, so the scolding left some mental scars which I do regret.

As far as cursing at a work object goes...no spell is complete without all the magic words...

Living with a youngling at one point taught me to put remotes up on high shelves out of reach. I still have the instinct to find anything with buttons and defend them somehow when I see a kid roaming around.
And may the universe forbid if a baby gets a hold of my laptop or Xbox.
