Wow. Like a Porn Film
Just getting busted for public sex in one of the glass gondolas on the "High Roller" ferris wheel in Vegas would be kinky enough, but...
The Associated Press wrote:
Man Addresses Vegas Strip Ferris Wheel Sex Accusations
A man facing felony charges for allegedly having sex on a glass-enclosed Ferris wheel on the Las Vegas strip spoke openly for the first time about the accusations.
Las Vegas police said Phillip Frank Panzica III, of Houston, and Chloe Scordianos, of New York, were arrested for committing sex acts in public on Feb. 5.
Officials said the two were aboard the famous "High Roller" Ferris wheel when they started having sex during the 30-minute ride 550 feet above the city.
Panzica said he was actually supposed to get married that day to another woman, Mistie Bozant. But Panzica said they had a fight after he thought she was pregnant with another man's baby. That's when Panzica said he met Scordianos.
"One thing led to another, she was there by herself," Panzica explained.
When asked if he knew they would have sex before he got on the Ferris wheel, Panzica nodded his head, but added, "It wasn't planned, it was just, I felt it."
After her fiance spent two days behind bars, Bozant posted $3,000 bail and he was released. Panzica said he feels bad about everything that transpired.
On Tuesday, a Las Vegas judge set a March 9 date to see if the charges against Panzica and Scordianos could be resolved without trial.
Police said surveillance cameras captured the act. Images haven't been made public.
Like i said - like a porn film. That boy is a fast worker.
I do note that the fiancé he dumped at the chapel (probably leaving Reverend Elvis standing at the altar wondering what was going on) was the one who bailed him out.
But i also note that she let him marinate for two days before she did...

This {excerpted from a longer story} has nothing to do with the above story, except for the fact that it's about inappropriate shenanigans:
In November 2014, Lippert, an English teacher at South Hills High School, allegedly provided alcohol to a group of male students at San Clemente State Beach and had sexual relations with one of the teens.
A few weeks later, Lippert organized an overnight camping trip at the same beach with Ghirelli, a district employee, and many of the same students. Both engaged in sexual relations with students. The event was not sponsored by the school.

I'm grappling with why I have focused on the question I'm pondering;
"Why is this a FELONY?"

Statutory Rape- sex between an adult and someone not of the age of consent. If the 'offender' were like two or three years older than the 'victim', there is a tendancy to blow it off- inform the parents but not press charges. When the adult is 25-30 (a is the case here) and the 'victim' is 17, THAT is a felony.. and yes, I use quotations as I believe the situation was consensual. I'm not sure I see a 17 year old boy tagging a thirty year old female as a victim as much as a lucky stud.
Mind you, I was ... 'introduced'... by my babysitter when I was not quite 13. She had just had a nasty fight with her boyfriend. I never saw myself as a 'victim' in this situation... until I tried to ask her out on a date- THAT hurt, but I got over it.

I think Taz might have been referring to the original subject of the thread... which seems to have involved consensual sex between two adults. (Physically, at least... the guy involved may arguably have some emotional growing-up to do).

Um. Sex in public? Is that what you're asking about?
Potential exposure of small children to topics far too mature for their little eyes, I think, has something to do with it.

There are some countries, and also many periods in history, where the local culture is/was much less concerned about trying to isolate young children from awareness of adult sexuality. Kinds hard to do so, if you're a big multi-generation extended family living in close quarters, or in a semi-communal space like a long-house. And, of course, kids growing up on a farm become aware at an early age of the fact that animals mate.
As far as I'm aware, kids in those cultures don't turn out any worse overall than those from "enforced sexual ignorance" cultures such as that present in most of the United States these days. Possibly better... I don't think that the tradition (Victorian?) of having a young woman go into marriage, and on her honeymoon almost entirely ignorant of her own body and What Sex Was All About was doing her any favors.
There's an interesting "if this goes on" take on this in Vonnagut's "Welcome To The Monkey House".
(Note that I'm referring to a "Don't worry about the kids seeing or hearing us" attitude, and
not to ones which condone adults being sexuality involved with young children.
Involving children in sexual relationships comes with a high risk of a bad outcome for the children, whether it's a "secret" relationship here and now, or a socially sanctioned "child bride" marriage overseas. Lack of physical maturity, lack of emotional maturity, the inherent imbalance in the power relationship... not good.)
In the "sex in public" case cited here, I would think that a misdemeanor charge for disturbing the peace would have been more appropriate than felony charges.

AH!, but you are forgetting that you yourself had just mentioned that we seem to be in an "enforced sexual ignorance" culture at the time... THAT is why the punishment was probably excessive. it was all "for the children"

Oh, I realize that. By "appropriate" I meant "proportional to what I personally perceive the harm-to-others actually was", not "conforming to the local standards and traditions".
Since the article speaks of an attempt to bring the case to a close without a trial, I suspect it may be plea-bargained down to a misdemeanor of some sort. I'm sure that the defendant has a strong motive to agree to something which would not cause him to be categorized as a felony sex offender for the rest of his life... that sort of conviction would be like an anchor and chain welded around his neck.

My earlier comment was based on the story regarding a student/teacher liaison- sex on a Ferris wheel? Yea, I guess that's 'lewd public behavior'... but who HASN'T had sex on a Ferris wheel?

(raises hand tentatively)
Then again, I didn't have a GF when I was working at Six Flags back in the 80's, so...

Hmmm. How many fancy beds have that sort of pivoting suspension?

That would add an interesting element to the motions involved. Add a washing machine on the spin cycle and things would probably escalate pretty quickly.

First thing you do is disable the inbalance overload switch. Then you get a brick and put it in four layers of wool sock- put it in the machine and
then put it on 'spin'- the trick is to not get thrown off the machine... and when
you are precariously balanced on
top of her while she's
on the lid, that can get challenging

The point is to add occilatory motion, not try to ride two bucking Broncos at the same time!
