Calling all font experts

Post by shadowinthelight »

I was gifted a discount bin copy of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance which was a Walmart exclusive version including an instrumental soundtrack CD. Since the music disc is included in the game box it has no cover of its own to scan and add to the MP3s once I rip it. Therefore I am trying to put together a cover which matches the original art as closely as possible.

The question is can anyone identify what font this is? I can redraw it if I have to but I would much prefer to avoid that particular annoying hassle.

That's their Techno > Square listing. I'm sure you can find something... just respect each font's d/l policy.

Try "What the Font?" - i posted the URL at Napalm Luck.

It'll take some cleanup on your original, if it works at all, but it does ID fonts pretty good.

I took a sample like this:

and, after some fiditzling, it told me "Koster Xmas Special" - like this:

(At an arts festival in NC a while back, i got to ask the band about the font - hadn't ID'd it yet - and they had no idea, thought a designer just created the logo instead of setting type.)

It was a bit of a pain but using a higher resolution copy of the main logo as a reference I was able to redraw the needed letters.
