I think it is more along the lines of

"You keep using that word, but I do not think it means what you think it means."

Seems like an appropriate, if elaborate, turn of phrase.
Atsali really is going to have to come to terms with her sexuality at some point though. Species reputation or not, her obsession with projecting an image of virginal chastity has gotten to be pathological. Chemically suppressing one's libido also seems like something more appropriate to a Victorian oppression story than something healthy for a developing teen.

Beg to disagree. I think Abbie knows exactly what the phrase means, 'cause her grin is saying very much the same thing!

Not exactly equal in any way though. Berdine's embarrassment was only between the three of them and no one else knew.

Coming to terms is one thing. Possibly the whole school thinking her and Nadette did the do when they really didn't is something else entirely.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Andre the giant quoters here... Cheap/gaudy and mischievous don't really fit the bill here.

They might fit Sarge, but not Atsali, even with the randy rumors flying about.

Magnificently seductive minx would work better, and they would definitely perform the essential function of rumors: getting it all backwards. Atsali's not the one who makes the moves. She usually doesn't even catch the moves either, but that's beside the point.
