The action lines indicate retraction.

so now we have boob space, enough for at lest a few boxes of cookies and who knows what else, then we have tail space with who knows what there.

Yeah...Paul confirmed on Facebook that the tail retracted into her spine. No orifices were violated in the making of this comic.

Castela is going to be something else by the time she grows up. Rather scary I think.

Interesting concept, do magical para-normal creatures have to abide by the rules of the physics of biological reality?

Ursa morphs, mermaids with legs, Cricket, etc.; I am going with apparently they do not.
And for all we know, the tail may be more like the tongue of an anteater or humming bird and less like a "normal" tail with bones--so there's that.
