You guys are seeing the update way ahead of me.

I wonder if Devyn knows Percy Jackson.

========

Also, being Poseidon's niece is relevant because he's here and his brothers aren't.

It's not showing on the front page for me either but if you go back the forward button will be there.

Well, Devyn is loyal to family!

(Here, too, the front-page update is badly lagging the links in the per-day archive. I suppose the web-site electrons have run into a delay in the slow glass...)

Well, I think my Hades fits the current description.

Also: getting impromptu electroshock therapy to the point of synesthesia is the most imaginative threat I've ever heard, I think.

Well, Zeus did get around.
and Hades was a bit of a psychopath. Lets see since is decedent of Poseidon probably has water powers, since threatened with lighting bolt probably has Uncle Zeus's powers. Shes a walking Greek Parthenon.

Parthanon, or pantheon?

I'm not sure "parthanon" applies, since it's mostly columns and statues. Doesn't the adjective "statuesque" usually mean "tall, imposing, and dignified"?

Devyn is at the "uber-cute-and-compact" end of the building-and-sculpture code. :)

In the Wapsiverse, Sirens are maritime raptors.

Devyn, in that last panel, seems to look a lot like Atsali, just before she goes full game face.

Wonder if, with their mutual oceanic connections, they're distantly related?

============

Hmmm - we know that neither Hades nor Zeus are Devyn's father. If Paul is following the more-or-less standard model of the Greek Pantheon, that leaves only Hera (by *ahem* a different connection than Zeus), Hestia or Demeter as her parent.

Unless, of course, Poseidon is her great-uncle.

In which case, all bets are off, because her parent could be any of Zeus's offspring: Athena, Ares, Hephaestus, Hebe, Eileithyia, Eris, Hermes, Apollo, Artemis or Dionysius...

Oops..

"Uncle Zeus".

Duh.

So, if Paul's sticking to the conventional Greek pantheon as generally recognised, one of the females of Poseidon's generation must be her parent.

So the Library won't let Devyn's uncles pass through into our world? That does have some implications.

Perhaps there's a sibling who nobody else in the family wants to acknowledge.

Heracles: "And who is that over there?"
Zeus: "Errrrr, that's Joe, deity of drunken crocheting. We don't talk about him."

Or we could get really weird and convoluted and contrived, and have the unknown sibling be a goddess of caffeine who has since gone missing. . .

heh, heh... I'ma gonna throw a monkey wrench into this:

heck, what if he's decided to branch out in his portrayal of the deities relationships?... i just got done reading "Abracadaver"from Laura Resnick, and one of the things in there was that in China (and I'd assume other Asian cultures) is that if a person that helps out your family/community sufficiently enough that they can take on a familial aspect, and get called "uncle"... that's why the can have an Italian Mafia hitman be called "Uncle Lucky" by a Chinese immigrant family of undertakers/morticians, he had helped out the family way earlier get started in the mortuary business here in the USA... so the kids grew up knowing him a Uncle... that same sort of thing could be going on here as well... both of them could have helped out her family so much so, in the past that she only knows them as "Uncle Zeus" and "Uncle Hades" now, even though there is ZERO biological relationship!

Probably, and that makes Percy her cousin!

Would love to see her lightning bolt someone until they can literally taste the rainbow ;)

Ah, our little Devyn shows her temper again. She'd be adorable if she wasn't so terrifying.

(Actually, Alexis is right, sort of; Zeus went after anything that had a pulse AND was attractive. I'm not sure you'd classify Hades as a psychopath so much as someone who preferred quiet. Which of course meant he avoided Olympus, and most humans.)

And this answers why she threatened Pool Guy with Poseidon and not the rest of the Pantheon. Poseidon was apparently on Earth when the Grid went up and so is still in the game, while most of the other gods are locked out.

Perhaps not Demeter. I would imagine she hasn't forgiven Hades for Persephone and wouldn't allow a second daughter to go anywhere near the guy. (William Messner-Loebs did a hilarious take on the abduction of Persephone by Hades in his comic Epicurus the Sage, raising questions about just who abducted who.)

Hestia hasn't gotten much air time, over the centuries. And she IS the goddess of hearth and family.

Sorry Devyn none of them are playing with a full deck. Zues will chase and catch almost anything that walks, flies, or swims. Hades is determined to usurp Zues by any means and doesn't care how. Good odds Bia inherited the same mental attitude. Besides being the ultimate goth guy would drive anyone around the bend. I would suggest she keep a close eye on any family member from that side of the family, including herself.

Remember this- Paul had no trouble re-writing the story of the Gorgon Sisters. And sphinxes are given a slightly different bend as well- but even in my wildest days with recreational pharmaceuticals, my tongue NEVER saw the color orange!... or if it did, I don't remember...
