No More Spoilers!!!

I know this is very, very late, but people REALLY need to stop posting spoilers on any and all webcomics, INCLUDING this one. I'm not even halfway through the archives and I've already come across a fair amount of spoilers. People in the comments even say not to read the comments the first time through. Well, What if I WANT to, huh!? Oh, and don't tell me that YOU didn't read the comments the first time through (unless you were the first poster of the strip). I never even read a webcomic more than once. Once I've read it, I'm done with it. If I want to read more webcomics, I'll read a different one. I mean, there's tons of them out there. I've got almost 100 webcomics on my RSS feed and I'm still adding to it. So anyway, stop being jerks like that and quit posting spoilers. For a lot of webcomics that I've read and am reading, the comments add to the experience. Reading spoilers, however, does just the opposite. Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to get this off of my chest.

1) Signing up just to call people jerks is not appreciated.

2) If you read the comments knowing they could have spoilers you have only yourself to blame.

3) If you waited before popping off you might have found out that the comments under the comics are archived for posterity and no longer actively being added to. All posting has been done here in the forums for a while now.

4) My impression is that most of the regulars who post here in the forum are good about not posting spoilers. As shadowinthelight correctly pointed out, the Comments feature in the main site and the archives has been closed to new entries for a couple of years now.

5) There's a great deal of speculation, prediction, and discussion here in the Forum, which could in retrospect look like spoilers... sometimes we actually do figure out what Paul's going to spring on the world before it arrives (although more often we're wildly wrong). This is unlikely to cease... nor should it, IMO.

Geez, Louise, people!

If you're going to troll an archive, read the comics and skip the (nigh endless) commentary so you can:

a. Avoid the running debate over whether or not she managed to use creme rinse on her hair before the big date, and:

b. Avoid the comments posted months later where someone is chest thumping about how they just KNEW all this foreshadowed the horrible events to come, specifically....

You get the idea, or should have by now. Enjoy Your 100 RSS comic feed!

1) I didn't just sign up to do that (I'll say that they're "not nice" if you want), I signed up to tell people not to post spoilers.

2) They shouldn't have spoilers in the first place. It ruins the comic for us first timers. These kind of people are a pet peeve of mine.

3) Ok, I'll give you this one. However, what if they hadn't? I would have spoiled myself even more.

5) I don't mind speculation, I just hate it when people talk about stuff that obviously hasn't been mentioned in the comic yet.

I'm not trolling anything. I'm just voicing my opinion (albeit in a somewhat rude way, I'll admit), but people shouldn't be posting spoilers.

a) As I said in the first post, I consider reading the comments part of a comic itself. I can find them funny, insightful, empathetic, etc. So whenever I come across any spoilers (which it has been a while for me), I get a little miffed.

b) Again, I shouldn't have to avoid reading the comments because spoilers shouldn't be posted in the first place.

No one is going to change a whole forum's posting habits just because some new reader rudely tells everyone that he doesn't approve of the way that the forum works.

If you don't want to find out that Jin is actually Monica's grandmother, don't read the forums.

For once, the bunny and I are in complete agreement.

I think I'll let Monica have the last word.

As you yourself say, you do it because you want to, which is very different from because you have to. You have to live with the consequences of your own choices.

Seriously, it's like you telling the rabid Marvel and DC fans to not ever post spoilers on Guardians of the Galaxy, Age of Ultron, Daredevil, Arrow, or Flash to name a few of the hot ones of late.
Or Doctor Who fans not to gush over the latest episode(not seen it, so avoiding all related topics).
Not. Gonna. Happen.
A few mods might say don't post them the first few weekends after release, but that's if they're polite.

I just avoid every thread regarding movies and Telly serials until I watch them with exception to DD that I'm just starting up, I've not seen any of these, having to decide which movies are important on my 10 year old son's list(Shaun the Sheep and Minions), and take him to those, as I'm still on a tight budget even a year after moving. Prolly won't watch Arrow or Flash for a while, as my son did not like the little bits he has seen, and I support his choices, and the two Marvel flicks until they come out on Netflix.

A lot of folks have been here since day one, and have hopped from board to board. I've been here since Paul was on the Angst Technology Inkie's board, and mentioned he'd started a comic. I peeked, and it was rather good, andhas only gotten better.

Some of us are only now connecting the dots on plotlines hatched almost a decade ago that we've seen unfolding, and it's exciting for us. That is the really the only way to avoid it.
If you truly do not want any spoilers, do not read any threads/posts/comments until you've gone through the archive. If you cannot, please don't complain so rudely that we are spoiling it for you. It's easily avoided.

Agree or disagree, it's just my 2 cp.

Bizkit.

Spoilers are a de-facto part of venturing into the World Wide Web. As are memes, fanfic, viruses, and trolls. It's you going to happen.
Yes, in certain settings, it is considered polite to refrain from posting spoilers. Here, however, nobody has any real inside information to leak before it comes out in the actual story.
Only the author, I believe, can spoil in that manner.

As far as spoiling people who are behind and archive binging?
Did ya ever stop to think why the comments are below the comic itself? And did you ever consider that the main link to these forums is placed, again, below the comic? And did you ever notice that there are links to the archives and the very first comic above the comic on the front page?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say no.

It's not everybody else's responsibility to coddle you. If you don't like raw fish, avoid sushi restaurants. If you don't like country music, don't tune into a country radio station. If you don't like communism, stay out of North Korea. If you don't like porn, don't turn off SafeSearch. And if you don't like spoilers, don't read comment sections or reviews about stuff you haven't seen yet.

It's your responsibility. Either grow up, wise up, or ask your mommy and daddy if it's ok before you do anything on the internet.

Oh, and one more thing. Lurk moar.
