I am reminded of the story about the muleskinner that hit his mule upside the head with a wooden 2X4. When asked why he did that, he replied, “Well if you want them to do something, first you have to get their attention.”

Castela 'pings' Atsali, 'Sali goes semi-ballistic, 'Stela says, "OK, now that I have your attention, go TALK to Nadette."

That reminds me of the scene where Van Helsing first meets Dracula:

VH: *shooting baby vampires noisily*
Drac: *How-Dare-You-Look*
VH: "now that I have your attention..."

My brother's girl is very capable of playing like this. She dressed like Captain America one Hallowe'en.

A shortened baseball bat would guarantee results- if I had a cutting edge of the same hardness of Atsali's skull, I could work titanium on my lathe...

Letting reality obtrude for a moment - it's not the hardness that makes working titanium difficult - ordinary tungsten carbide tools will cut the stuff - it's the gallingwhere it spot-welds itself to the tool edge and rips out small chunks.

This is why you work titanium in an oil bath to cool the workpiece and tool.

Titanium just became 20% more awesome. I never knew it spot welds itself to tools. That is really interesting. Never even heard of that phenomenon.

I always used abrasive cutters to slice any Ti I had to work with, since I had to use hand tools and Dremels.

And getting back to the comic, it appears that Atsali has a skull to rival mine in impact resistance.

Wait. It's just a cornhusk doll. I'm confused, does this mean she has low impact resistance or high impact resistance?

Urg, I'm overthinking this. Shut up, brain!

Don't feel bad, that was my reaction precisely.

I have totalled out 3 pickup trucks bouncing them off of my skull, it appears Atsali is equally impact resistant. To data as well as objects (I have been called socially dense in the past).

I am thinking corn husk maiden may need to save a little stink weed shortly.

It may only be cornhusks, but perhaps the first panel is showing Corn Husk Maiden firing her super boosters and accelerating to extreme velocities! Since she then smacked into Atsali, who is Castela's sister, it could even have been at relativistic velocity!

Remember the corn maiden is very strong. After all she is husky! This gives her greater impact in the scheme of things.

Drops a Certified Density Standard Reference Materials book into the jar.

The eight ball isn't missing. Atsali destroyed it when she had to change to flight mode in mid-air.
