What with all the hoopla surrounding the upcoming movie premeire I find I'm getting a short-circuit in my brain every time I see or hear the phrase 'Guardians of the Galaxy';

I think instead of the Imperial Guard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_G ... 8comics%29

and/or

the Starjammers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starjammers

Not to mention the 'originals', (from 1969 btw)...

The connection to the original 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is a bit tenuous, but go see it. Excellent movie, lotta fun. Watch out for pelvic sorcery! ;)

That's why I pretty much gave up on my attempt to seriously research the various storylines of Marvel and DC comics. There basically doesn't seem to be any sort of an actual continuity, instead there being some sort of "hey while I was on shrooms I came up with this awesome new direction we can take this particular franchise and I also think that I'm a coffee table oh hey I just spilled some cocaine in my absinthe!!!!!!" attitude on the part of the writers.

At least now I can generally distinguish between Marvel and DC characters, so if I cause any soul-wrenching anguish to comic geeks by mentioning how much I think that Batman is Marvel's best character then it's entirely intentional on my part.

Actually, Dark Claw from the Amalgam Animated Universe is the best...

Though technically everybody is an alien, and just about any living thing that didn't spring up directly from nonliving substances is the product of mutations. . .
