Interesting item. I have taken enough of the little buggers apart in my life (every time my family had a camera that went bad they gave it to me and I took them apart and put them back together (The 70's and 80's had lots of cheap little point and shoot cameras on the market) to know how they work but the "light leak cover" sounds like an interesting idea (never heard of one before).

The "light leak" is a variation on various techniques for achieving Interesting Effects.

Looking back at the picture of the parts.... I noticed the Little Teeny Pieces Of Clear Plastic ... otherwise known as lens elements.

Getting those mounted correctly - and clean - must be Interesting.

Well, it's an awesome concept - but are there any sample pics? Not too worried about the plastic lenses, but clean? yeah, that's an issue.

And if you have the broken guts of a digital camera - at least the CCD chip and the circuit board - maybe get yourself a digi-cam? Meh, I suppose if you wanted that you could by a cheap cellphone......

Meh. The really interesting series of "Build Your Own Digital Camera" kits starts with the Intermediate, which comes with a chip of ultrapore single-crystal silicon, vials of ion-implantation fluid, and some really teeny-tiny brushes. You get to paint the pixels onto your own little CCD sensor, one at a time.

In the Advanced kit, they send you a bag of sand, and instructions on how to turn your oven into a silicon smelter.

The person in the front of this picture (in case you don't recognise him) is Neil Gaiman.

For science: inflation of androconial organ of a male moth.

Incidentally, this is my new favorite noise.

Heh, of course. One of these days, I'll get caught up on Ma3 and rejoin the discussions (and the MLP subforum, if it's still around).

A loving re-creation in Lego of a famous movie scene, and a side-by-side comparison with the actual film.

{I'm ashamed to admit it, but i can't come up with the title of the music track. I'm as sure as i can be that it's Booker T and the MGs, and i ought to know the title ... but i can't pull it up.}

Apparently it's am instrumental recorded for the movie. Blues Brothers Band members Steve Cropper (guitars) and "Duck" Dunne (bass) were members of the Booker T and the MGs, whose day job was as the house band at Stax (later Atlantic, i think), and would have been the band on Redding's recording.

So, yeah, my ear did not fail me on identifying the style and the origin.

How did she know how to fly a combat helicopter, then? As far as I know, pilots are all officers or warrant officers.
