Awww.
Not quite, sweetie.
=============
Phix and Nudge are "aunties"?
Katherine must be running tame at the Library these days...

You look delightful, Honey! But even Tanta Nudge needs to keep practicing!

I got it right. The paranormals are in an open secret system with the rest of humanity. SO while they are hiding it is not a super secret cabal of paranormals cowering in terror of any discovery. This also means that those who might kill the kids were from the extremist side of humanity and think the para's come from the devil.

Notice that Pickle does not say hello to Monica or Shelly. If she had been introduced she probably would have. So the two of them are not in the loop about the adoption yet.

Questions have been answered, and "D'awww"s were elicited.

In panel's 2 and three Phix appears to not have moved but the picture in the frame behind her changed. It even looks like the same person in both but in different poses. Given the faces shown I would think this painting might be of a demon, or demons.

Small children aren't famous for their knowledge of social protocol; Castela bursting in without knocking proves that. Even if she's been introduced to them, I'm not surprised she's ignoring Mon & Shelly since "Tanta Phix" is her target.

Those are the same portraits that have been on her walls for years:

I suspect they are members of her extended family.
I even suspect we've already met the two pictured today.
PS - Love to see Pablo redo those portraits in greater detail, but that will probably have to wait for more revelations.

"Tanta" Hm looks like a derivate from the Dutch "Tante" (Tán`tuh) odd, reading that.
And Nudge teaching "looking human"...well..yes..with predictable..ehrm "creative" results

. But the beginning is there. I wonder if Pickle met Phix before on "library day"

I'm pretty sure she has; this is why I had figured the little one had gone running to Phix first.
Heh. I wonder how Phix will react to Castela learning things from "Tanta Nudge."

Could be, it is the Icelandic version of the word.

Or possible old saxon or low english? There are a fair number of connection to old england, wales, etc.

I'd say this strip does a lot to clarify things and gives some good illumination of the world. Also, Castela is super cute!

Nice spotting the previous scene that showed both together. That means Phix did move between the two panals.

Or maybe the wall did.
Like the wall behind the car when Ahnuld punches through the windshield in
The Terminator.

I thought of Yiddish, though the more common transliteration of the Yiddish equivalent of "aunt" seems to be "tante".
