Well, i used to read Clancy.
Red Storm Rising (not a Jack Ryan book) is where you'd encounter
maskirovka.

as well as one of the 1632 series books/gazettes not sure which one now, but they were talking about the "great stone radio towers" and how the Granviller's were using the construction of them as a disguise for the really small radios they were using for long-distance comms for the people in the Tower of London and Amsterdam...
