Kaa's song was very fitting.

There's also this:

Siren Song
By Margaret Atwood

This is the one song everyone
would like to learn: the song
that is irresistible:

the song that forces men
to leap overboard in squadrons
even though they see the beached skulls

the song nobody knows
because anyone who has heard it
is dead, and the others can't remember.

Shall I tell you the secret
and if I do, will you get me
out of this bird suit?

I don't enjoy it here
squatting on this island
looking picturesque and mythical

with these two feathery maniacs,
I don't enjoy singing
this trio, fatal and valuable.

I will tell the secret to you,
to you, only to you.
Come closer. This song

is a cry for help: Help me!
Only you, only you can,
you are unique

at last. Alas
it is a boring song
but it works every time.

There is an actual counter-song to a Siren Call:

This is song that doesn't end,
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever, just because

This is song that doesn't end,
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever, just because

This is song that doesn't end,
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever, just because

This is song that doesn't end,
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was,
And they'll continue singing it forever, just because....

Well, speaking further on what the Collector touched upon; i too appreciate the different aspects certain characters have been drawn with; the seemingly realistic Suzie w/ a little 'chub', Cricket the mighty Dynamo of miniature dimensions, heck even the Barista has some "I'm not a young chick any more' action going on. me likey.

Yes Atsali is fifteen, (she didn't hit 16 yet?, huh...) and while I've been ref'd to , in the vernacular It's called, unfortunately in a derogatory manner ' Capt Save-a-Hoe' by many- I've been raised by both parents and all the comic books I read as a youngster for that matter, to feel less predatory and more protective of young ladies.

No chicken-hawking for me.

That said, I do enjoy the 'less that scrawny' aspect to Atsali that's more than just her bust size.

Now that I think about it, Bud's way less than a Monica/Atsali on the up-top side but shes got those 'legs like a racehorse' going for her.

Another phrase from the Slang-lish; "It's aall goood..."

I could have also used "The Court Of King Caractacus" or "The Tibetan Memory Trick." Both are cumulative pieces, and begin to require a bit of concentration to complete properly. As is "The House That Jack Built."

Can't seem to find it right now, but I wish I could... I was thinking, this afternoon, of the Animaniacs episode where they are in Russia, and Rasputin has charmed the Tsar...

Rasputin: "Look into my eyes!"

The funny part was when the Warner brothers (and their sister Dot) tried to remove a tooth that was hurting Rasputin, and they ended up taking out the whole mouthful of teeth at once...

The next time Rasputin tried to hypnotize the Tsar, it went something like:

Rasputin: " 'ook in-hoo ma ahz! "
*Tsar complains that he can't understand*
Rasputin: " 'ook in-hoo ma ahz! "
*Tsar complains that he still can't understand*
*Rasputin gets frustrated*
Rasputin: " 'ook in-hoo ma ahz, oo i-iot! "
Tsar: "That's no way to talk to a Tsar! Guards, take him away!"

(Or something like that...) :D

Here is another counter to the Siren's Song.
This is the Theory Jack built.

This is the Flaw
That lay in the Theory Jack built.

This is the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Turn of a Plausible Phrase
That thickened the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Chaotic Confusion and Bluff
That hung on the Turn of a Plausible Phrase
That thickened the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Cybernetics and Stuff
That covered Chaotic Confusion and Bluff
That hung on the Turn of a Plausible Phrase
That thickened the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the button to Start the Machine
To make with the Cybernetics and Stuff
To cover Chaotic Confusion and Bluff
That hung on the Turn of a Plausible Phrase
That thickened the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
That saved the Summary
Based on the Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
That lay in the Theory that Jack built.

This is the Space Child with Brow Serene
Who Pushed the Button to Start the Machine
That made with the Cybernetics and Stuff
Without Confusion, exposing the Bluff
That hung on the Turn of a Plausible Phrase
And, shredding the Erudite Verbal Haze
Cloaking Constant K
Wrecked the Summary
Based on Mummery
Hiding the Flaw
And Demolished the Theory that Jack built.

Won't take you long. Go back to the Island, where she meets Great Grandma.

Ah, here it is. Mentioned as an offhand comment & never discussed again. (except here in the Forum, of course; here's my initial reaction, which still applies)

Bud's expression on the next page is priceless.

No matter how much of the destruction of Lanthian civilisation was the fault of Bud's rage, Bud's general level of anger is more irritation than actual rage.

There have been moments, though...

My observation way back then:
jwhouk wrote:By the way: Bia may have been telling the truth when she insisted that Shelly was actually her great-granddaughter. That might have been her way of accidentally acknowledging that Connie was made up of Tina's "soul".
Think about that: Connie is what Tina used to be like.

That amount of destruction is likely the reason why Bud tends to only let herself get annoyed. The whole "Hey, I lost control of my emotions and committed genocide" thing would be a good incentive to work on one's anger management skills.

Something just occurred to me: is it possible that Tina's partial Titan heritage is what allowed Nudge to get her out of the morgue'?

Hmmm. . .we've seen that Tina's body is apparently no more durable than any other human's. And her soul went off to join with Shelly's conscience at the moment when she and Monica died. So the part of her that's left doesn't seem to have any special properties (unless you count cuteness and fanginess) beyond those natural to the demons, while the part of her that might have had some unusual powers wasn't there to help with the Rise of Tina 2.0. Everything seems to be the work of the demons simply deciding not to give up the ship when Nudge goaded them on, and them making Tina's organs function as they're supposed to do in a normal living body.

The fact that she had a Titan in her heritage could have something to do with why she was involved in the whole mess in the first place, though.

I don't think that anybody knows yet what Bia's plans for Tina were, and what abilities Bia's breeding program was supposed to bestow upon her. Tina may only have been an intermediary step, intended to allow somebody further down the family tree to have special traits. Heh, she might even just be the result of "recreational" activity on Bia's part, and not a cog in some vast plan.

Entirely. That may explain why Tina's "soul" merged with Shelly's. She (Tina) wasn't allowed to die, so instead her soul went to fuse with her "cousin's" soul. As to how she found Shelly - well, Jin may have left vapor trails from northern Minnesota... ;)
