Ooops, double post...
OK, er just a min...
OK, the Gift Giving Season approaches, and while I'm not one to support the Commercialization of Christmas, I do want to support the furthering of knowledge, Science, and Tinkering.
Esp, but not limited to, among the young folk.
With that in mind I submit the
Intro Electronics section of the Makers' Shed online site:

It all depends on what you plan to do with the system. A lean OS won't help much if programs are resource hogs. Stuff I use like DVDStyler and Inkscape would murder the poor thing. I wonder if it could handle pvr software.

1. For, lo, then did come forth the Chief Priest of Friskeez, the Titular Deity of Kat Fud
2. And he did bear before him the sacred vessels, forged even of the finest aluminium.
3. And he did speak UNTO the assembled congregation, saying "Not yet, idiot."
4. And then did he pass even UNTO the Hallowed Chamber of Preparation, where he did cause the sacred cans to be opened, and the content to come forth
5. And went he then to the Place of Lavage, and did place the did place the sacred bowls of plastic upon the Great Engine of Cleanliness and upon the Dessicator of clothing.
6. And said he then, "It IS served."
7. And, behold, there was Great Rejoycing among Pussy Cats...

I didn't go looking for it, but I do remember a version of the useless machine that had two fingers, one on each side, and when one flipped the switch, the other one flipped it back. (There was an additional switch, somewhere, to turn the whole thing off...)

I wonder if the timing of that strip was meant to coincide with this week's episode of Elementary which involved a supposed true AI.

Now if only Elementary's New York was the same New York as Person of Interest's New York... that'd be a crossover episode I'd love to see...

I can see it now. Sherlock's number comes up because he is putting himself and them in danger investigating the Man in a Suit.

Is that even possible??? Is any
mere mortal even up to the gargantuan task of even attempting to make sense of the happenings around Monica Viilareal and company to the common mortal?
Can anyone even grasp the significance of any what has happened so far?

The Super AI box reminds me of a X-Files episode where Skully and Mulder were on the trail of a super-infulence person. At one point, the police had him surrounded, guns and shotguns drawn, and demanding he put up his hands and surrender. He looked at them and said, off-handedly, "Go home." The dozen or so troopers and SWAT professionals all looked at each other a moment, put away their weapons, packed up, and went home.
I forget how it ended, but basically the guy was interviewed by S & M, and didn't like having that skill, because he never knew if people actually liked him or not -- they just did what he said.

I'm sure that Oscar is up to the task. He seems very wise and observant and capable, and has a true gift for communication.

It would seem, to me, that the Katerine/ Atsali/ Whatsit household could use some on-screen Oscar time;
Castela, sitting on a ottoman, arm & elbow on the table, head leaning against the fishbowl, talking to the Beta Fish as Confidant...
