This stargate is located in a place open to the public and so needs someone to monitor this boundary between the mundane and the supernatural.

Yep. Slide rules are solar-powered analog calculators. I still have and even use a couple of them, since the batteries never die.

Edit; Bia makes a lot of sense if she is working against Brandi now that the calender Machine Crisis has been solved. She may want to see Earth opened back up to the Elder Gods.

We don't know enough of Wapsi-Olympian politics to make that determination. My guess is, from Brandi's words to Lily, that Bia is on the side of justice. However, she is bound by oath to work for Zeus, who may not be the best of bosses, and it already seems like her official capacity is in conflict with her attempts at sympathetic action.

The slang term was Slip Stick. It used to be hung on people with very good math skills as a nick name. We referred to the best as Slip stick. Heinlein used it in Methuselah's Children for Slip Stick Libby. My father always used one and I learned too. I think my brother still uses his but he is older than I am. lol.

Blish also talks about engineers with their slip sticks, but I don't think he used it as a nickname. On the other hand, he did have a self-cleaning table eat one once when it was left too long after a meal. . . .

The crazy thing is that you pretty much can't tell whose speaking in a comic unless Paul uses a particular font (such as when M buys her bras!), yet you know that you ought to be able to tell who is speaking by the voice! AAAaaarrrrrgggghhhh! Monday can't come soon enough!

I think this points out all the library has is the printed material and none of the digital. The girls went there after looking at internet sites for information about the Jaguar temple. Brandi has got nothing but tabloids, which are printed. Since Monica is not even in the loop on this one how could she even know. She saved the vamps from Phix but not because she knew they were working with her, but to keep Phix from killing. So Monica is still trying to avoid MIB and what it does. Tsalia is her liaison to MIB but Monica doesn't even know that as T was assigned by Charron, not MIB is what she told Monica.
