England and Scotland and Eastern Europe for me - Dad always claimed that Great-great-however-many-Uncle Vlad was a collateral ancestor, and he showed me a map that showed Bohemia and various historical incursions and said "This is why I said you probably have some Hun blood..."

Was it Atilla the Hun or Ghengis Khan who managed to put his DNA in a ridiculously large percentage of the modern population?

Well, looks like our fanfic writers were pretty much spot on, when they ended up putting the twins' dad in the fight at Pillsbury Mills.

If that's how big Nadette gets, I'd hate to see how big Bernard gets when HE goes feral...

You know how animals used to be really
REALLY
big back during the Ice Age?
Yeah. Ol Bernard is probably the size of an elephant.

Bernard, in full feral, once peeled open the roof of a Brinks Truck with his claws (It had rolled several times and was on fire at the time- it landed on it's side and Bernard opened it to get the occupants out- they panicked and sprayed him with automatic fire until he bellowed out, "STOP THAT- THAT HURTS, DAMMIT!!!") Another time he played 'freeway hockey' using a ford pinto for the puck and his paws as the stick... but that was when he was a freshman in college (and was quite drunk).
Big? native Grizzlies gave him wide berth. He once backslapped a sphinx into unconsciousness. Creature never fully recovered her sensibilities...

She still drunk texts him every week or so. It used to be annoying until The Missus read the texts and busted out laughing. Now its an inside joke among the adults of the family.

You know,looking at panels 2 & 3 again . . . her muzzle seems a bit short . . . I wonder if her feral form is an archaic species . . .

Yep, I was thinking that exact thing.

I'd also been considering a
short-faced bear, but the facial profile is wrong.
Of course, there are other kinds of extinct bears too . . .

I'm thinking she's actually getting in some early practice for next year's Halloween party. She's going to go with the "bad girl" theme, and is planning to morph into a stunning example of a Menura ursafacies (now sadly extinct... for some reason they had trouble establishing stable long-term mating pairs)
(Deposits a flute recording of "The Keel Row" into the Repository of the Really Off The Wall)

Duckduckgo found nothing for the term. Google Translate says that
menura is Basque for
menu and
facies is Latin for
faces but couldn't find any one language that would translate both terms. (Ursa is bear in both Basque and Latin.)
With a bit more work I figured out that the term would be for a bear-faced lyrebird. (Scientific names of animals often draw on multiple language.) However there are only two species of lyrebird, and neither carries or merits that description.
