You might want to try what's sometimes known as "alt.country" - people as diverse as Butch Hancock and Jimmy Dale Gilmore or Jason and the Scorchers - who were as much punk as country (their live version of Dylan's "Absolutely Sweet Marie" is so good that i have had people who actually know a little about music tell me that they'd heard that Dylan covered them, and their version of "19th Nervous Breakdown", for my taste, is better than the Stones' original - it's on a Stones tribute album.)

Oh - i almost forgot - Jason & the Scorchers' track "]Broken Whiskey Glass" (from an EP produced by REM waybackwhen) is lotsa fun - starts out kind slow, low and sweet ... don't turn the volume up too high for that part, though ...

And then, of course, there's Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen

She has recovered, the toe is not swollen and she no longer limps. Walks last week were limited to one mile or less, more due to darkness falling during the evening walks than her not wanting to continue.

We did two miles this morning, the normal weekend distance. No signs of any pain or lingering soreness.

I've been doing that with my Moody BLues collection since I wrote this. Legend Of A Mind, Forever Autumn, Nights In White Satin...bliss. All put on repeat while I was working in the shop or at my computer...sheer bliss.

Toss in some Procol Harum, a little this and that from psychedelia and it's pefect working music.

I hadn't heard about the Moody Blues guy passing. But I did just hear the Glenn Frey of The Eagles just passed away at the age of 67 (I think). I grew up listening to both of those bands. Sad to hear about so many of the music legends that developed my musical awareness passing away all at once.
