I don't remember the brand, but it's made in California and I hesitate to use the word “vile", but it certainly doesn't compare to any of the other brands i've had. The best sarsaparilla-type soda you could get USED to be Barg's Sr (NOT the stuff that comes in a silver can, which is a decent-enough root beer, which originated in Biloxi), which was only available within the state of Louisiana, and is no more.
I don't like chocolate and mint together, but love Belgian chocolates(used to be allergic until I was a teen, so Halloween sucked), and pulled sugar ribbon mints. I adore strawberries, but alas, it is a forbidden love. I didn't know there was anyone who didn't care for cream soda, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here with a tentative "yes?".
No worries, I've met people who don't like chocolate, mint, and strawberries. Personally, I hate Pepsi AND Coke (both are also owned by the same parent company, go figure). I used to love Dr. Pepper, bur I went off pop for a year and now I can't drink it either. In fact, I believe root beer, is the only dark brown pop I can drink without cringing now.

My introduction to Coca-Cola was the non-American versions; when I came to the US and first tried some here, it just tasted wrong. Felt wrong, too; the US formula leaves an unpleasant texture behind. So in the birthplace of Coca-Cola, I'll only drink Coca-Cola if it is imported from Mexico or someplace. As a long time Coke® addict, even the reversion to Classic Coca-Cola tastes wrong because of the use of high fructose corn sweeteners. There is, to me, a slight 'spicy' taste that isn't in Mexi-Cokes, or as I was fond of, the Cokes we got in the Middle East. I never had Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or root beer outside the US, though, so the US versions of those all can taste fine to me (though some brands of root beer are definitely better than others).
I've yet to find a ginger beer in the US that is more than moderately okayish.
