(peeks in to the Confusion Corner)
Oh, hey, did I interrupt the WA meeting? Sorry about that.
Hey, I think they're going to finally send the replacement part for the espresso machine tomorrow, so it should be ready by Wednesday.
Meantime, feel free to wander over to Fan Art to get your Wapsi fix in written format.
Oh, and did that girl drop off the box of donuts for the meeting already? She did? Good.

Then one leg of the well-experienced chair gave way causing him to momentarily lose balance and slosh some coffee on the tabletop. The puddle of "coffee" began to sizzle and lift the paint from the table.
"Hmm, haven't seen that since I put the batteries in backwards in the..." he mutterd as he rose to find a differed chair and refill his cup. "Woo hooooo" he sang out softly as he walked across the room.
The Toon rolled backwards off its chair, neatly avoiding the sizzling glob eating its way towards China, then morphed into an electric guitar that bounced off the walls screaming "WOO HOOOOOO!" on its way round to room to the tar pit of a coffee pot. Lou Xiv put a black-gloved finger to his red rosebud lips while he contemplated the scene. Reaching into the coat of many colours he pulled out a bundle of large cards, fanning them out. After a few moments he picked picked one and held it up for the room to see: a 9.
It could have been a perfect 10, thought Lou,
here in the beautiful south, had the Toon’s audio not sounded a bit of a blur…
Settling back in to a chair of stouter construction and picking a stray guitar string off his shoulder as a couple of cockroaches danced a buck and wing across the table, 'Toons regarded the apparition across the table and remarked " How can you be two places at once when you're not anywhere at all? I mean, it's either the coffee or you seem to move without actually moving... and that number makes me think of a Beatles song I recall from my youth..."

Glytch raised an eyebrow at Jon and Louis, who were behaving most unusually. He decided Louis might just be that way, but also became very glad he didn't drink coffee. What was being served here seemed to have some sort of hallucinogenic property. He glanced down at his pack, confirming exactly where the handle of his pipe was, should things get... exciting.
I should have expected as much, meeting people from the internet...
Greg immediately noticed Glytch running his covert weapons inventory and peered at him from across the table. Glytch met his gaze and smiled slightly, shrugging. Here was a man with some form of training.
"I can't remember what my first Wapsi comic was. I don't even remember how I found Wapsi Square. All I know is, upon finding it, I immediately knew it was a keeper, and immediately went on the archive binge." Glytch blinked a few times. "You know what, I think I just remembered how I found it: I was looking through the list of Long Running comics on TV Tropes. I think that was it. Anyway, I did a hard binge... Reading Wapsi at a furious pace, night and day. Minimal sleep, devoted all of my free time to the binge. It was worse than the first time I read Deathly Hallows. Been following the comic ever since. I'm usually up until midnight, waiting for the next page to go up." Glytch chuckled. "I used to like Fridays. Now they're tainted by the knowledge that I'm going to have to go two days without Wapsi. And now that Paul's moving..." Glytch shrugged again, shaking his head. "My mind is creating a fanfic. Just to get by. To hold me over until the next comic. And I'm reading the other fanfics too. I might go on another archive binge. I read many other webcomics too, but... None like Wapsi. I'm not as into the rest like I am with this one. And I don't know what I'd think if... When Wapsi Square ends. Simply contemplating that happening causes me to feel fear, and a little tightness in my chest."

Oooh, an endorsement! Cool. Like those quotes from magazines and newspapers on the backs of books.

Jon stared ahead at nothing for a moment, then shook his head with a slight grimace as if clearing an earworm. "Funk #49, great tune," he said as he turned to Glytch. "Can't remember where you started? Me neither. I do recall I caught wind of the strip while reading a note from the creator's of GG or while reading one of McEldowny's efforts back when he suffered a forum. Like you, I spent many late night hours catching up with Wapsi. Had a few regretful workplace mornings where it took several back-to-back cups of coffee to bring myself to a adequately functioning level. By the way, don't drink that stuff over there, it has a strange taste to it and dissolves those little plastic stir sticks after a few minutes of contact. And I'm with Greg, interesting start to something you have there!"

Glytch raised his Nalgene bottle in salute to the two of them before taking a few quaffs of soda. "Thanks for the compliments. And I am certainly glad I have this with me today." He replaced the cap, leaving it loose so the carbonation wouldn't pressurize and begin to hiss through the lid. "I think part if why I can't remember is because I immediately went on the archive binge. And I guess my memory just doesn't work quite like most people's."

Greg looked at Jon, slighty offended by the comment about HIS coffee (he was still picking bits of it from between his teeth), then addressed the group at large,
"Anybody else wish to speak about their first Wapsi encounter?"

A odd buzzing sound slowly filled the room. The gathered group looked around, trying to locate the source, as it changed pitch and tone, sounding something like the George Pal Martian heat ray. Suddenly, with a kind of backwards "POP" sound, and a lightless flash, a figure in blocky purple power armor dropped from near the ceiling to the floor in a undignified heap. "I hate these kinds of landings!" he muttered to no one in particular. "Always means trouble, Hahn-day Tzadle-Bay!" Getting up and looking around, he made sure he didn't land on someone. "This is the Wapsi meeting thing, right? Give me a second here....." Flipping open a panel on his right forearm armor, he tapped a few keys, and the suit deactivated in a spray of violet sparks. A man in his mid 40s, wearing cargo pants, a Hawaiian shirt of eye-bending pattern, sneakers, his thinning hair in a short braid in the back, stood with a large paper sack. "My designation is kingklash, I'm a WapsiHolic, and I brought frybread and honey......" and that was as far as he got, owing to a sudden rush for his food.

Glytch hurriedly sheathed his pipe and joined the back of the line for the food, whatever frybread was supposed to be. He was still retaining a healthy amount of suspicion, and upon receiving a portion, proceeded to inspect it in great detail before eating a very small bite.
He made a mental note to talk shop with the man in the garish armor. Sure, it was Saints Row Purple, but the mechanics of it were quite intriguing. He then made a mental note to arrive early to the next meeting to test for hallucinogenic gases, as men wearing purple power armor teleporting and complaining about the rough landing do not normally occur. At least, not in this universe.

Greg finished his portion of frybread with a loud belch, then checked his overalls for points of impact. He surveyed the group before him... they were all at the frybread hammer-and-tongs. "Well," he thought to himself, "THAT ought to improve the mood," as he waited for the frenzy to subside...

(hearing someone finishing speaking of how they found Wapsi)
"You can blame Dave Kellett for my Wapsi addiction. I started reading Sheldon online at My Comics, then jumped at a few other comics he recommended. One of them was
Wapsi Square.
"Geez, thinking about it, I've probably been reading since about the time Pablo introduced the Golem Girls. Heh, the argument on the then-Blank Label Comics forums back then was what to call them: 'Giggly Golem Girls' or just the 'GG's'."
"Anyways - I have all six books, though two of them are in PDF format. I have book number seven on the way. I've written fanfic that is older than Castela - no, really, do a search for 'Wapsi Me' on these boards. It's a great read - though slightly outdated."
"What else - I have several sketches by Paul from over the years, but only three are currently hanging up on the walls of my office. Nasty little thing that happened a few years back - I was forced to move because of one of those evil 'immoral politicians' came up with Act 10." (Looks at the Sargent) "Uh, no, not
that Acts 10. I had to sell my condo and move halfway to Minneapolis. Or, at least, it felt like it."
"Oh, I've written at least one other 'novella' that's available online - and it isn't Wapsi related. I got the idea when I was an undergrad in college, and didn't finish it until about five years ago. Trust me, that's a long time. It took a character by Thomas Overbeck named Cassie Wells to bring my story to a conclusion. I've got it on Google drive
over here. Oh, and go check out Cassie's story at
Times Like This."

"Hmmm... " Greg thought to himself, "... a bear, a dimensional traveler with frybread, a nuclear holocaust of a punster who's wife saw fit to tranquilize, 'dances with chairs', a fop, a kid who really looks like he slept under a bridge last night, and a host of others... all with the ability to write... and we've just gotten started...."

Hmmm. I guess I need to work on my character descriptions...
I just have the backpack because I'm nervous about meeting people from the internet IRL.

"Howdy, Bear" said Jon as he approached and gestured at the coffee pot for a refill. "That stuff's pretty interesting, I think the guy in the brown coveralls made it, he seems the type to call the coffee made when it will float a horseshoe. I warned the young guy over there off of it, he seems a bit nervous and probably doesn't need any additional stimulants. Welcome to the party, if it can be called that. Might be a long couple of weeks."

Haha! I like it! I have been known to tangle with a flimsy folding chair a time or two. They stirred in an Extra Clumsy DNA strand before I was decanted.
