To explain further- The girl (Agatha Clay, AKA Agatha Hetrodyne) was raised by Adam and Lilith Clay (AKA Punch and Judy)- Lilith wears high-necked late Victorian/early Edwardian blouses with 'leg-of-mutton' sleeves, just like the Lilith that Paul portrays here. Go to the link that GlytchMeister provides and follow a few pages- you will see the results of drinking the perfect cup of coffee.GlytchMeister wrote:Read from here on for a few pages. It's a good comic, once you get this joke, you might as well go for the full archive binge. A lot of people around here reference this comic. You could say it's a local favorite.Gyrrakavian wrote:A bit of background for the ignorant?
No, it's there- those are 'leg-of-mutton' sleevesMerchManDan wrote:Maybe I'm looking at it wrong - perhaps the looseness of her blouse's sleeve is throwing me off - but I swear Lilith is missing her right arm.
Great, now I can't Un-See that. Thanks, MMD, so much.Sgt. Howard wrote:No, it's there- those are 'leg-of-mutton' sleevesMerchManDan wrote:Maybe I'm looking at it wrong - perhaps the looseness of her blouse's sleeve is throwing me off - but I swear Lilith is missing her right arm.
I dunno, Sarge. If Paul were to have a Lilith Clay cameo, I don't think he would leave off some of her most characteristic features, such as her drndl and braided bun.Sgt. Howard wrote: THEN you will see why Euryals' sister thought this was soooo funny- this is a walk-on from another comic.
Hmmm. Isn't it, traditionally, the nearby presence of twin peaks which announce the fact of a Damn Fine Cup Of Coffee?DinkyInky wrote:Dear God, maybe Agatha has already tinkered with Tina's gear, so it's the only place left to find "the perfect cup".
She is wearing late Victorian/Edwardian wardrobe- I've not seen that before in Wapsi world. It is a joke that she would get her coffee at Tina's. And as a published cartoonist that has in the past copied other cartoonist's work to 'cameo' somebody onto my strip, I can verify that modifying your technique to emulate somebody else's is not always easy... ESPECIALLY when you do a daily. It took me several tries to make 'Andy Capp' look like it had been drawn by 'Smyth'... and that is a very simple style.Dr. Otter wrote:I dunno, Sarge. And height and (maybe) proportions.Dr. Otter wrote:I dunno, Sarge. I was going to say that. Lilith Clay is taller and bigger (in a muscle-bound way) than the average man. She also has her left eye much bigger than the right, but that cannot be confirmed, here, since the left eye of this particular Lilith (whatever her last name may be) is covered by her hair (which would probably be considered much too unkempt for Lilith Clay...)AnotherFairportfan wrote:And height and (maybe) proportions.Dr. Otter wrote:I dunno, Sarge. She can say anything, blow sunshine at them, yet give the perfect cup, as it will be perfect to the palette.GlytchMeister wrote:If Agatha'd had her way with Tina's gear, she'd give the same kind of coffee to every customer.
...
And all of her customers would be trippin on super-coffee.
Wait a minute...Dave wrote:Hmmm.
