We can blame Mayahuel's habit of getting drunk-and-forgetful, I think. She spent years scheming and plotting about how to create golems, and trick the Lanthian priests into building the Calendar Machine, and (in doing so) make May immortal and (she hoped) stabilize Jin's mental deterioration.

Yeah, she was hatching a plan. But, she got drunk and a bit confused, and when she sobered up, she was planning a hatch... and that's what got built into Bud.

Fortunately, she'd originally been quite single-minded, and had been hatching only one plan. If she'd had a couple of other conspiracies in mind, then all three of the Golem Girls might have ended up cross, and hatched.

But the banana sequence is hilarious.

Possibly the result of May's love for banana daiquris?

Actually, Mayahuel used Jin's hatch (i seem to recall) to "operate" on her.
