OK, I can see that Castela might have met Monica at the Library, without Atsali being present. And she and Atsali met Bud when she brought Kath to the Orphanage to get her partner and wound up getting two for the price of one; and from the sound of it, Bud's been keeping in close enough contact with this little family group to be considered a member. But I'm not sure wear the closeness between Monica and Castela came from...

Castela looks up to Monica (as from the episode involving Phix), and Monica loves "teh cute" that Castela is projecting at the present time.

I think that it is the sort of "halfway paying attention as Bud lists Monica's characteristics" expression, which will in a second or two be replaced by the "wait, what was that last bit again?!?" expression.

Atsali is probably spending a lot of time at school, while Castela is left with Katherine or one of her many "aunts". Monica's probably ended up spending a good bit of time around Castela just from being around her other friends and the Library. And as the only little kid in the whole ensemble, Castela is probably spoiled rotten by Monica and all of the other adults.

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said. One thing I noticed though is that Castella seems to have changed into a different outfit as well. She was wearing a skirt/shirt at the beginning (it was part of the first punch line of this arc) but now she looks like she's wearing a dress. I guess they are cloths shopping so she could have just changed into something new that she liked.

No comment... Hmmm... either only I thought it was funny, or no one else, here, has watched The Man from Snowy River...

I was under the impression that it's been summer. Based on Brandi's (or Senior Director Oduya's) comment at the end of the Mesa Verde arc ("I was hoping to get this wrapped up by the summer solstice") it was mid to late June at the time. Since they seem to be doing back to school shopping now I assume it's mid to late June.

Given Atsali's panicked rambling in this strip, I had assumed this mall trip is a few days before the start of school; first week of September, give or take.

Say, when do kids go back to school in Wapsi? 8-)

Prob'ly depends on which species of paranormal you're talking about.

Vampires and werewolves.. never. The others won't let the "shitty mosquitoes" in, so they're all home-schooled.

Sphinxes... whenever they want (rather, whenever their parents declare it to be time). Who would dare contradict them?

Mer-folk... for tolerably obvious reasons, it's a year-round thing for them and they don't get vacations.

I suppose for plant-based paranormals like Castela and for sirens of Atsali's age, it's April... the time of year when spring is bustin' out all over.

no, I think she bound herself *before* she morphed, that was brought about by emotional feelings, eg thinking about the scary movie?? she was OK before, then *whoomph* no room to breathe... just like a RL guy going through puberty, it may be a bit controllable at the very start , by thinking about awful stuff, but it only delays the inevitable embarrassing happenings.... :(
Umm...she couldn't have bound herself before she "morphed" into post-pubescent form. We saw that she morphed that way in her sleep one night (as described by Castela and then shown to us in a flashback), and then she elected to bind her chest so that others wouldn't see how much she'd blossomed overnight. But then maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying...
