So is Phix saying Katherine didn't or couldn't adopt Atsali and Castela but Pratt and McBride did? I was hopeing Kath did. :cry:

No, I don't read what she said that way.

I think she's saying "If it weren't for what Pratt and McBride did, the adoption could never have taken place." They acted in a way which was "above and beyond" what vampires are usually known for (presumably, most vampires are selfish and self-centered) and one result was that Atsali and Katherine both survived the Adventure, and Katherine was thus able to adopt Atsali and her prickly friend.

Not even duct tape can fix stupid. But it can muffle the noise.

No doubt, we have Atsali Gilchrist, and Castela Gilchrist, daughters of Katherine Gilchrist, and sisters to Oscar Beta Gilchrist.
