Actually, no, I didn't...I double-clicked on the word, to highlight it, and right-clicked to search based on the highlighted word... Several online dictionaries entries came up, and they all failed me!

Yep.

Scary, isn't it.

Uh, point of order from the hockey fan?

OI! HANSONTOONS! Get that jacket off, hang it in the closet and get to WORK! Got things to do and places to be - get to it!

Re: Point of order: Easy enough to make a phone call and get that dealt with on a temporary basis....it'll need to be back for the party, anyway, so as long as Ari's access to the Alexander place is controlled it's not a problem for now.

-------------------------------------------------------------
“I love it when a plan comes together.” Al chortled as he saw Greg coming up the walk, a bemused smile on his face. Greg knew he'd been had - but having him here was going to be immensely beneficial. Along with Rosalita and the ever-staunch Edward, Greg was the one person Al could trust to get the job done and make things happen.

“Greg! MATE! BUDDY! Good to see you!” Al, stepping out to greet his blood brother, immediately decided what he was doing.

Everything.

“As you can see, old chum, today is moving day. I was forced to get involved, and I decided that we needed to be DONE with this.”

In a few sentences Al briefed Greg on what was going on, and how the teams were arranged.

“So – where do you want me?”

"Well, Rosalita could use some hands in the kitchen here. Considering she’s trying to get dinner ready and build up the kitchen at the same time I think she’d love to have you peel some potatoes…” Al stopped when he realized that Greg was tensing to bolt for the gate.

“Oh, STOP that. I am well aware of your lack of culinary skills, but if you keep doing that I will swap you out for Glytch – and you WILL end up in the kitchen.”

“Glytch? That mad scientist is here – and you left him alone in a kitchen full of sharp objects and electrical equipment?”

“Yes, he’s here. Planned to show up for the acid test on the stuff Sterling Damhnait is doing and found himself redirected, shall we say.“ Al grinned wickedly at that one, and a low insidious chuckle escaped his throat.

“Well, in any case, unless you really WANT to spend the day with Rosalita, I have a better task for you. I trust my team captains intimately, but there are going to be a hundred things that need to be decided on the spot. With you here, I can deal with that, if you’ll take over the move into the new house. Can I get you to take over for me here?”

“Hell, sure, Al. Not a problem. You owe me for this - when I heard the ladies were going off for a spa day” visions of his lovely wife on a massage table suddenly intruded.

“What was I saying? Oh, yeah – give me the diagrams and let me go for it. I’ve got my phone, and you have yours – call it done. If I run into anything that needs your meddling, I’ll call you.”

"Randy old git. I know exactly what was distracting you...and I'm having the same problem. I'll leave you to it, then...and thanks." They clapped shoulders, then Al headed off to cause mischief with the other teams. The movement of materials went on, and the momentum built.

Glytch was carrying an oversized sack of potatoes from the old kitchen when he heard Sarge growling and grumbling under his breath. "You got shanghai'd too, huh?" He began with a lopsided grin.
Sarge's only answer was a dark look.
"Aw, come on. It's not that bad. We've got a couple of big dudes for all the really heavy stuff, and we're helping a woman in need! She's been at her wit's end for a bit too long. You wouldn't refuse to help out a lady, would you?"
Sarge stomped away, still muttering angrily to himself.
Glytch's laugh followed him up the stairs, doing his blood pressure absolutely no good whatsoever.

Brains trump brawn. He just needs to exercise the leetle grey cells, then Glytch is in trouble.

GlytchMeister wrote:It was beautiful, yes... But Glytch could tell it was a fortress, too. The balcony, with its multitude of retreat paths and ornate wooden columns (probably steel covered in wood), was perfect for centaurtillary. The passageways bore subtle signs of hidden bulkheads, which could be used to seal them off at a moment's notice. Everything was hidden well enough that anyone who wasn't trying to see that aspect of the building wouldn't notice. Let's hope those features never have to be put to the test.
Seems to me as if Building 2 could benefit from a similar upgrade. Between the need for physical containment (radiation and toxins), and the security problems Al has had with people getting in where they don't really belong, it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the Richer Engineering facilities with better physical robustness and security.

It's not as if it's rocket science - just hard work. The Egyptian tomb-builders figured out the basic design thousands of years ago... pile up lots of dense rock, build narrow passages, sliding-block barriers, plausible-but-fake chambers to mislead invaders, and so forth.

With a bit of effort, Richer Engineering could be headquartered in its very own Great Pyramid of Geezer.
