A street/road/avenue story for ya:

Long ago, the cities of Phoenix and Mesa started to grow into each other. They each had a main North/South road, and numbered their streets as East and West xy Street. It worked well enough.

One day, a child called 911 and said her mommy was hurt. "Where do you live?" asked the dispatcher. "53rd" answered the child.

They had to send out 4 ambulances to the house number in both cities to rescue the mother. After that, they quickly spent money on caller ID for 911 services.

The North/South Parade thing in Oxford refers back to 1644, the English Civil War.

North Parade was the furthest north the Royalists held, South Parade was the furthest South the Parliamentary forces held (or maybe the other way round).

The actual battle was for the bridge over the River Cherwell in the small town of Cropredy.

That is to say, the bridge you walk across to get to the entrance of Fairport Convention's annual Cropredy Festival ... over the river that forms one boundary of the festival grounds.

Boulevard in Atlanta one of the boundaries between north/south city quadrants. The boundary runs down the middle of the street. The street that is the boundary between east/west crosses Boulevard.

Because of this, the same street numbers occur four times on Boulevard.

Frontage Road West goes due north. Frontage Road East goes due south.

They are adjacent to Interstate 10. Which, as you can tell by the number, is an east-west freeway... and it really is, with one end in Los Angeles CA and the other in Jacksonville FL. (It's the 4th-longest interstate; I-90 is the longest, from Seattle to Boston.) But on that specific stretch of I-10, the nominally-westbound lanes go due north.

A drunken man with a lit cigarette passed out on the toilet in a Spanaway, Wash., Walmart bathroom and caught his underwear on fire Monday, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched to the store at 20307 Mountain Highway E. about 6:30 p.m. after fire alarms went off, Central Pierce spokesman Brian Levings said Wednesday.
They went to the store and found the bathroom filled with smoke.

As the man sat on the toilet, drawers down, he fell asleep, and ash from his cigarette fell between his legs and ignited his underwear, Levings said.

The man slept through all this, Levings added. “One of our guys actually used a dry chemical extinguisher to put out his pants while they were on him,” Levings said.

That roused the man, who pulled a knife on the firefighters, Levings said.

“Our guys escorted him to the floor and began to tend to his injuries,” he said.

The man had burns to his legs and was taken to the hospital. He was released that night.

No demon eyes. Shot by available darkness, one CFL and one fluorescent tube ceiling fixture, neither particularly new. 1/50 second, ISO 12800. Required SIGNIFICANT colour balance tweaking.

{Never saw "Top Gun" and know very little of L&M. Mostly due to ignoring the kind of radio that played them.}

Loggins had performed a song titled "Danger Zone". It was also mentioned a lot on the show Archer, as Archer would often tease one of his female colleagues (who had also been an on again, off again girlfriend) by saying "danger zone", though I don't quite get/recall the reason he did it.

I suspected something of the sort. These ladies are from the webcomic Danger Zone One...

Same basic boring cheesecake manga with ridiculous outfits designed to cater to the lowest denominator, and are certain to be compromised still further at some point. No plotline to speak of. Cardboard cutout personalities drawn from staple stereotypes.

Congratulations, even more boring than Dirty Pair. That's quite an impressive accomplishment. As such.

The video, despite Kenny Login's being very physically inert throughout, is a high-energy soundtrack entry in the film 'Top Gun' starring one Tom Cruise, a goofy Meg Ryan in a supporting role, her on-camera husband's role performed by the guy who'd go on later to do Dr. Green for 14 years on the TV show 'E. R.'; Anthony Edwards. Most importantly out of these casting decisions (and no, I didn't forget Val Kilmer as 'Iceman'...) was a seeming 'Beauty' to Cruse's 'Beast in one Kelly McGillis, the two who, the way the thin story line went, were more likely internally reversed in those archetypes... But I digress.

In a nutshell; 'Top Gun' is 'Warrior Porn', Kelly McGillis was distractingly beautiful, *spoiler alert* (something very bad happens to 'Goose'), Cruise's character undergoes an evolution, the Good Guys save the World for Democracy and there's both Motorcycle speeding alongside airplanes AND Val Kilmer, at the beach, in a bathing suit, playing volleyball.

That and the film made a bunch of money, and on top of all that-

In 2015, the United States Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the National Film Registry, finding it "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[2]

Oh, wait, this was about the song; it's very repetitive, the video is strange but if you watch it you don't need to see the movie, and during the mid to late 80's if you heard this song while dancing you were likely already in a semi-euphoric 'runner's high' from your exertions and the pheromones of your dance-partner & the crowd around you, and you might really empathize with the emotional urgency of Mr. Loggin's vocal rendition...
