Yeah, I got that. Still looking, though...

GRRR... I thought I had it with A Negative Influence, but the only thing that changes between panels is the shadow on the wall - and it's six panels. :(

How about... three years (and three days) ago?

Same scene, all four panels - the elevator lobby of the hospital.

The discharge doctor is in the first panel - and only once.

Mayahuel is in the third and fourth panels - twice.

Jin, in the wheelchair, is in all four panels - and doesn't move at all.

That seems to fit the description. If it is correct, congratulations! If not, excellent work just the same.

I had to look through the archives, and had a couple of possibles... and then this one hit me. I had to look back at Dave's original question, and realized it fit.

We have a winner! Nicely done!

See, I had to wait for confirmation.

I can't even come CLOSE to topping that, though.

I have an idea for a question, but even I am not sure of the answer.

So I'll throw it out there:

"Other than filler/one-shot panel strips, has there ever been a silent Wapsi Square strip?"

Example: we've had panels like this one, but have there been any multi-panel strips (two/three or more) without dialogue?

Quite a few, I think, depending on your meaning of "one-shot panel strips". A lot of the flashback/memory strips were utterly silent... e.g. the GGs' recollections of their torture and death, the incident when Mayahuel showed up in the temple and sliced the guard to ribbons. I think that some of the "boiler room" strips, prior to Conscience formally introducing herself to Shelly, were silent snd multipanel. The one with Tina standing around "empty" all night, and then incinerating that tried to climb into her eye.

Here's one with Shelly that certainly seems to meet your requirements.

Q: name/show at least three devices or objects, intended for use in sports, being used by Wapsi Square characters.

  1. A bicycle, for which, as we already know, Monica paid $1556.85
  2. tennis rackets
  3. roller blades ("shoes with wheels"), which Bud acquired and used, tumbling down some stairs, landing on the sidewalk and making a hole in it from the impact.
  4. Monica also used roller skates a few times (not the same thing as roller blades, though they are similar), either being pulled by Dietzel, or the one time when Dietzel also tried to put them on, which Monica refused to let him do (something about people will think she's crazy).
  5. Oh, and of course, a frisbee, on more than one occasion.
[Now looking for missing links.]
[...]
[Found all but the one where Dietzel wanted to use the roller skates, but won't take the time to look, as I already have enough links, I think.]

Edit: Does an exercise mat count? In that same vein, there was also a treadmill... Though that is probably considered exercise, rather than sport...

Will be back soon with a question.

Q: On two occasions, it is said that Monica's ears are bleeding. When did those two instances happen?

I'd agree, those two are probably outside the bounds of the category. The others are all good, and include a couple I hadn't remembered.

6. Bowling balls ;)

Is bowling a sport?

Oh well, Wikipedia says that it's "a series of sports or leisure activities"...

So let's link:
Shelly owns one
Brandi bought one. No, two. No, three!
Someone else went bowling, at one point, but I'm not linking, because that's a question for the future...

One was when Candidate Island turned out to be a volcano in the process of erupting... both Monica's and Jin's ears were bleeding from the blast noise.

The other... can't bring one to mind, unless it's the time Tina and Shelly teased M about the way Phix was sleeping with M's boss... but that would be metaphorical ear-bleed and I assume you want literal?

Must think further...

Your first answer is right.

The second instance is not the one you thought: in that instance, she needed brain-bleaching. It was, in fact, a question earlier on in this quiz.

When looking for the second instance, just remember:

I will add that the same story arc in which we find the answer has been used to supply the answer to another question for this quiz (on a different day/comic strip, but during the same story arc).

I will even add that non only was the story arc where the strip is which I'm looking for featured as an answer to another question on this quiz (though not through the same strip as the answer for this one), but it was a question which I, myself, had asked.

Oh, Yummy Tea.

Sheesh, not very helpful hints. The latest I couldn't even parse. :-P

... well, okay, "it is said" was helpful enough. I just needed to sleep on it. Twice or thrice ...

Either: a mine cart, if it had a motor, or an American "rust belt" manufacturing company, if it were actually hiring people.

Q: How did Shelly first describe her mother's profession?
