I tried to find one issued by the 29th state to join the union, because iowa lot, but I couldn't find one.

Iowa, as a state, does not issue currency. But there's always the States Quarters program (1999-2006)....

Those chips are all part of a new information recovery system- every transaction gets recorded through a master system. The idea is that eventually, coin and paper money will no longer be used. All transactions will be electric. The mint will close down, or operate as a museum.

The next step is doing away with the card and implanting the chip.

It's the SIM for my phone as i transfer it from MetroPCS to NET10.

They are both microprocessors, and have the same basic electrical and communication interface (ISO9660 a.k.a. "smart card").

That's roughly the equivalent of saying "They both speak English" about two people. Same language, but often very different personalities.

The resident Technomage confirms. Plugging a banking card into a phone is like trying to plug a PlayStation memory card into an old PC and expecting to be able to play Spyro from the floppy drive.

There is no universal programming language, and I very much doubt banking systems use the same language as phone cards. Possibly certain portions of each system share commonalities in that they both utilize the Internet, but the means of data transfer has hardly anything to do with the data being transferred. That's why the concept of a SneakerNet (carrying USB and Hard drives and such) works just as well, and in some cases even better, than the regular internet. How data is moved does not influence how the two participants in the computerized conversation speak to one another.

English is a language, and it can be written and read, spoken and heard, or punched into Braille dots and felt. Java, Python, C++, these are all languages and they can all be transferred through the Internet, but a computer that is programmed only with Python can no more understand C++ than a person who speaks only English can understand Vietnamese.

Just like a bank card chip can no more communicate with a phone.

Some years ago, a coworker came back from lunch with a new purchase, and said "hey, you want to see something ironic?"
