So, I filled out an application for that place that makes eyeglasses. They interviewed me on the spot, and they are gonna have their insurance company pull my driving record. Hopefully I can be employed by them.

I'll know sometime this week if they can hire me. Hopefully I get the job, as I haven't heard squat from anywhere else I've applied.
I'm thinking you might have this one- not sure why...

Interview on the spot is a good sign. Also, the fact that they are bothering to pull your insurance record is good too. That costs them money. If they are willing to spend money to make sure you're worth hiring, you are in somewhat better shape than average.

Still, I've gotten three interviews from the same company and didn't get hired. So don't get your hopes up, and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Keep applying, keep hunting. Don't slow down until you've completed training for your new job... Never stop. You might up run into a better job out there after you are accepted.

Yeah, I honestly have doubts about getting the job. I don't have a perfect driving record, as the last two years weren't exactly kind. Granted, it's been a year and a half since I got a ticket, and almost a year since I had an accident, but you usually have to go two or three years before you don't have to worry about it.

So here's hoping I win one of those Publishers' Clearing House giveaways. The drawing for one of them is Friday, and they announce the winner on TV.

Though I'm not gonna watch it, because I'm not going to win anything, anyway. Plus, they'd probably use GPS to find my house, and those actually are always wrong. It tells us we made a wrong turn in our own driveway, and that our house is two houses down.

As a daily GPS user, I've learned to ignore the thing once it gets you to the correct street. Whatever algorithm it uses to compute house numbers is surely based in Common Core math.

*shudders* I hate new math. I fight with my son weekly to do it, because he can already do a good chunk of his math in his head...which is the opposite of common core.

Since Natalie turned eight last month, she is no longer required to use a car seat.

Someone else really appreciates that.

Yeah, don't even slow down your job search until you get your first paycheque. And even then, it doesn't hurt to keep your eyes open for other options.

Sometimes, prospective employers thinking that you're looking at other jobs might encourage them to hurry up and hire you before they lose their chance. Other employers might decide that this means that you're not committed enough, and so they'll be more reluctant to hire you. Use your own judgment on that.

Your whole "nuclear reactor in the DeLorean" incident isn't in the public records, is it?

Fortunately, all of the actual evidence in that incident was vaporized by the fireball. And, the Russians were never able to prove that it had anything to do with Chelyabinsk, although some of them did have their suspicions about it.

I had applied at Spencer's before I'd called up this place, and I got an email about it. Oddly, though, it had two links to apply, for the same position at two locations; one in North Little Rock, and one in Little Rock. The second location, I don't think I even knew about, but it's much closer. Basically, I drive to the end of my road, turn right, and drive north for a few miles, then turn left into the mall parking lot.

If I don't hear back something good tomorrow, I'll use that link. I might even use it as a second job, since neither one would pay all that much.

EDIT: I just got a call. I start work at Freeman Optical on Monday.

Does Hertz have a large presence in your area? They tend to be looking for drivers most of the time - mostly because the job sucks.

But it's a job.

Save the cheering for when I conquer the world with my army of space hamsters. We will succeed, because I will communicate with my rodent generals with tin cans connected by strings.

That doesn't seem exactly appropriate for this forum. Something something nudity something something PG rating...

At this point, she's won the game... nobody is paying attention to their hand and she wins everything back (as long as she doesn't actually put anything back on until everybody else is stark naked)

She's at the comic shop where she works - they're playing a fantasy card game, and, as Dan points out in his commentary, as shop dress code is written, she's okay - she's wearing shoes and socks and a black shirt.

Later, when i get back to my computer i'll move the images to links. I meant to say that this was my latest avatar, before anyone asked, and its source.

If it offended anyone, i'm sorry.
