So, what is down? Being in an underground complex, why would the room exits go down? I guess it could lead to an underground cave or river, gotta have water right?

Could be an exit on the bottom level, like a ground floor. The structure could have been built in a hillside, with exits at different levels. Be sides, the can't go up, the only way is down.

I'm not sure the structure is collapsing. The rumbling is going on too long and to strong. A collapse would have been relatively quick and sudden. I dont think a giant spider would rumble, neither would a snake. Perhaps a series of barrels, as in Donkey Kong?

It could be like the mine--since it's apparently in a mesa, the outlet may be in the side, and quite possibly from the lower floor(s).

Being an Anime fan in general, and a Cowboy BeBop fan in particular, I'm reminded of a remark Faye Valentine made in Cowboy BeBop the movie when Spike told her to go to the climate control center and tell them to make it rain...

I'm imagining Kath is thinking this right about now about our bird-brained friend... Needless to say, any priveledges Atsali had in the library are likely to be revoked after this fiasco...

Probably whatever big object is approaching that they have to get away from. Best bet it's still a big round rock LOL. Second best bet is it's Atsi's Momma come a looking for her missing child and is she mad! Third choice is the snowball that survived the nether regions that everyone says it never had a chance to.

Force your enemy to climb through a hole head first and whack 'em.
Then take their ladder.
The only practical entrance to the complex is on the lowest level.
