I just hope that last shot from the other side was not a near miss on Phix. It could very well cause her to break out the big guns, say 16 inchers as in a battleship.

Bravo Charley this is TCC, we have a Predator orbiting said position and we verify your report. Given that we also seem to see a fully grown sphinx that appears agitated we suggest that you might wish to correct that have not been drinking. If i were anywhere close i would for sure need a couple of stiff shots of medicinal whiskey.

Bravo Charley this is TCC, Central Command will not authorize a helicopter EVAC due to a hot LZ. We suggest you fall back to secondary extraction point, good luck guy.

Dude, we can fix that. Wouldn't be the first live-fire cannon I've built....and I ain't talkin' potatoes here.
If you know a good foundry, cannons are EASY.

Sure. A nice big piece of hollow bamboo, some vines to make cord to wrap it with, some naturally-occurring minerals and charcoal to make black powder... oh, and a handful of rough industrial-grade diamonds to use as grapeshot would be nice, too.

I read somewhere that there was a western tribe that got hold of rifles and powder but they didn't have easy access to lead to make bullets.
They did, however, know where to get lots of this soft yellow metal...
Allegedly, more than one white troublemaker was worth lots more dead than he'd ever been alive.

You don't even need a foundry at all. Mythbusters made several "improvised" cannon from a number of materials including 3 or 4 that worked and 2 that worked as well as a period muzzle-loader. I liked the cannon they used in the jail break myth, heavy wall steel tubing for the barrel, with formed heavy plate for the breech.
Don't pay any attention to the condition of poor Buster, just check out that cannon they made. They continued to use that cannon in most of the cannon myths they did for the rest of the show's run.

Fanservice is good for the economy. It helps to have the abs for it, though (I don't, so I won't).

Hey, don't knock tater cannons. Those things have proven mighty useful and versatile. Especially considering how cheap they are.

It'll all be OK.... all Nudge has to do is say that this is the rehearsal for the newest way they've thought of to increase Library attendance: it's actually an "Interactive Historical Re-enactment" based on the Master and Commander book series (similar to how the Public was informed of the newest exhibits during the "Night at the Museum" movies.. ie it was a B.S. Cover Story...), the reason she was surprised about it was simple... it just happens that Phix didn't get the memo about it to the REST of the Staff, and helpers, etc...

Meh. Just offer her a formal ascension to sainthood, in return for putting up with the noise and ruckus.

Fat fingers and not enough sleep are also possibilities.
Not to mention surprise at getting first post.

I wasn't able to scrounge up enough brass for even the small pattern . . . the big pattern required nearly 600 pounds! 800 if you wanted to pour solid and bore for optimum strength.
Of course, the hot trick that year was rifled liners cast into the cannon . . .

I have known several built that way . . . they work great, but high-grade materials are critical. The best method is to start with quality roundbar and bore it out from the solid.

That works best if you have naturally bronze skin and a superbly even fanatically toned body . . .
(Wonder who is going to get that one . . . I know someone will!)

Yeah... the actor who portrayed him on the silver screen was born 45 miles from here.
