Yeah, $1,500 can't touch it.
This sounds like a modern version of the "pen is mightier than the sword" parable!

The memory came to you like a bolt out of the green?

Second photo down, lower rifle- SKS in 7.62x39. Never been cleaned, doesn't know the difference. Will shoot all day, just clear the bore if you get mud in it.

People can be weird like that. A while back, I was walking along in one of my old field jackets. Some guy and his girlfriend (they looked to be in college) came up to me, and the guy asked where I got it and if there might be any more in stock. I told him that I got it by enlisting and that he could always try doing the same, but apparently that didn't appeal to him. Instead he asked me how much I wanted for it.
I said two-hundred dollars, just joking with him.
He ran off with the girl, and I went on my way. A few minutes later, they came out of a bank and ran up to me, and he handed me $200. So I went ahead and gave him the jacket, which I could probably buy twenty of for that price in some surplus store.
I have two or three more of them in my closet. Perhaps I should put them away in a safe as future savings.
My favorite response to such Jackasses is to give them the "I'm not really stable" stare and ask them, "What makes you think I BOUGHT this?"- mind you, it has my name, rank, unit etc.- plus the patch that says 'Infidel' is Arabic. Yea, I know- that's against regs. There's nobody in the county with the authority to do anything about it... and if there was, they'd be out of jurisdiction here in the Okanogan.

if you enlisted to get that jacket, as implied by the unit/rank tabs comment... then you in fact, DID buy it... while still in boot camp, you may remember getting your LES's during payday, and in the first one or two you got, it listed the various deductions made during that pay period (both voluntary ones like savings bonds, AND involuntary ones like taxes, etc.) one of which was the reimbursement of the cost of your issued uniforms back to the government as a deduction from your pay...
SO.. unless you STOLE them, then yes, yes you DID pay for them...

Not a great idea, Sarge. Those appear to be hybrid guns. You know the problem with trying to cross-breed modern hybrids - they don't "breed true", and tend to back-cross in all sorts of interesting and unpredictable ways. The offspring may revert to being like one or the other of the ancestral strains, or have an odd mix of characteristics that you wouldn't expect.
You might end up with a heavy-duty shoulder stock and a sniper-grade rear sight, attached to a pepperbox pistol's multiple barrels. It'd look rather silly.
Or (considering you're talking about mating rifles) you might get a blunderbuss.
