either that, or it could be the key to unlocking her depression and getting rid of it, possibly one of her inner demons could have locked it away a long time ago for whatever reason it had at the time, and hasn't given it back to her to in all that time. the resulting imbalance left her like she is, but when Tara finally brings the teddy bear BACK to her, she'll "find her Happy Place" again, kinda like Robin Williams in his role of Peter Pan. when he found HIS teddy bear, it reminded him of his dad and that unlocked his ability to fly... hopefully something similar can happen here...

I am thinking this is more like a mirror world with tones of Ghostbusters when they must choose the form of Zuul. Tara is basically a good kid that fell in with a bitch so she finds a cute little bear to save. Jordon is a soulless bitch so she finds a zombie ghoul.

Looks like Shelly may be joining the mentoring squad. Or maybe just "creepy little girl".

I think there are two sides to Devyn... the dork side, and the dark side.
Tara and Jordan taunted one side of her. Now they get to meet the other side of her.
"Karma" is sometimes just another word for symmetry.

This is starting to make sense, but you have to go back to the beginning and re-read it a couple of times. (Paul does not use words or phrases that just "take up space" they ultimately connect later on causing many a forehead smack and phrases like, "should seen that one coming" and "OOohhh, that's why they said. . .")
The key phrase is from Devyn when she says "No, I protect you, every day from my 'magic world'. Even I don't like to go there. Would you like me to show it to you?" Notice that she did not say SEND you, she said SHOW it to you. Therefore Jordan and Tara are only seeing the nightmare, like an illusion.
The next one is "Do? I didn't do anything." (she stopped protecting them--makes me wonder what you call a being that that automatically projects how they feel onto others) "What I didn't do is hold back how YOU ACTIONS affect me, and How YOU make ME feel." apply this to the last two strips. Where Tara's actions turned a demon into a teddy bear, and Jordan's actions . . well, the creepy kid with bleeding eye sockets are a pretty good clue that Jordan has not learned her lesson yet.
Looking forward to Friday ^_^

To give her some slight benefit of the doubt, having her arm possibly broken is probably not putting her in the best of moods. Though she wasn't exactly a ray of sunshine pre-fracture, either.

or,.... it's Tina.

Or. . .the kid
is Tina, come back from the future after a few very busy and confusing years!!!

Or out of the nightmare realm into the waking realm?

Bingo. I think we forget that we're seeing the "middle" of the story in some strips.

I like your idea better, teddy and empty shell reunited to quiet joy, and a much brighter Devyn.

Sometimes we forget we're reading one page per day of a graphic novel that's been running almost 15 years. Easy to lose sight of the road when you're staring at the bits of gravel under your toes.

If the comic was in color, she'd be dressed all in yellow...
Unseen, and off to the side: a very wide brimmed hat...
Let's get dangerous!
I know that. And if I recall, someone had even taken the time to appropriately modify the theme song to fit with Tina in the lead role, around that time.
But I was not saying this was DW, but rather
Nega-Devyn... Hence, dressed in yellow, but with similar hat...

Nega-selves don't always sport a Van Dyke.

Everyone has a dark side, some are not that different from their normal side, some make demons run and hide. Devon has a dark side but does not have the temper to dive in when annoyed or P.O.ed.

Thank you for that walk down memory lane.
(Some stuff is so funny but is buried inside a much larger thread that the chances of running across it again by happenstance are almost nil...)

Exactly... Remember, these two aren't really experiencing this physically... (Though I imagine Jordan might have residual memory of the broken arm from time to time to 'remind' her of the folly of her ways) they're still up in the hallway where Devyn left them to escort Atsali to Class. Probably wide eyed and drooling with yellow puddles spreading at their feet. I guess they should be glad pucker factor tightens the other end... at this point you couldn't drive a straight pin with a sledge hammer so to speak...

What I'm looking forward to seeing - if you can call it that - is what happens to Tara.
