At least this Jacob doesn't look like shirtless jailbait for dirty old women.

I've seen nothing to suggest Atsali and Nadette could actually work, all I've seen is the poor Ursamorth having her crush build up further.

What is your problem with him? I got one look and thought "Yeah, he'll make a good addition!" Cause seriously if you think crazy hair and glasses makes you a hipster... Why don't you dislike Atsali's general look then?

I for one like him, can we keep him Paul. Please? :D

Well, I don't know if he was trying to build the Atsali-Nadette ship. Let's just say that he put a lot of effort into whatever it is that he was trying to do and miraculously the good ship S.S. Salidette was launched. Having this one very sturdy ship floating around in the slip makes building another ship a lot more difficult. So if he is now trying to build the S.S. Jacsali (ugh), then he's going to have to be a master shipwright to get the thing to float.

Who knows? Maybe he's just trying to get the right number of characters into a locked coffee shop so that he can start a murder mystery. You know what happens when you make an assumption!

Can you see the future? No, you can't. But Nadette sometimes can, and she seems to tagging along here above and beyond the call of duty--especially since if Atsali and Jacob get together the situation will drop a big poop on Nadette's crush. (Assuming Nadette's not secretly a big masochist who gets a thrill out of emotional pain. Since we haven't seen any bitterness from Nadette, or even bittersweetness, I'm thinking she knows something that we don't know.

Think about it. First, Nadette is the one who set up this whole scenario. Go to the coffee shop and try to attract his eye there. Oh, you can't control your transformations? Here, I just happen to know how to fix that. I and my grandma just happens to have a spare talisman for you. Here, I'll help you test the talisman out. Now I'll help you dress. Now I'll walk you to the coffee shop. In order to help you, I will be a--how did you put it, Atsali? A "living, breathing pep-talk" for you...even though my sister made a point of telling everyone how I don't talk much due to the fact that I can become overwhelmed with I see and wind up saying some too-honest things.

So, is Nadette such a good friend that she's willing to do everything she can and more to get Atsali together with this guy--complete with emotional martyrdom where she sacrifices her own crush for the sake of Atsali's crush--or does she know something we don't know? Is it compersion, or is it foresight? Maybe Nadette is a saint--a saint who sneaks into movie theaters and makes fun of stuck-up girls behind their backs. I suppose it is possible. We'll see.

I'll admit I'm a little biased. The last thing this strip needs, IMHO, is another male character.

As for his appearance as compared to Atsali's appearance. Both of their looks say "I'm trying too hard!" Atsali's look we can excuse because we know that she is a little out of her mind right now and does much better in everyday life. With Jacob, we have to assume--until told otherwise--that this is his default state.

As for his "troubles" relating to girls about "stuff", that is so vague and universal, that it is hard to pull anything out of it. After all, don't 99% of teenage guys have trouble relating to anybody about anything? However, since I have put my wager on "Nadette profits (prophets?) when things Go Wrong", I'm going to double down and make my own baseless prediction. I predict one of these three things will happen: (A) He's going to wind up trying to pick up Nadette and ignore Atsali. (B) He's gay, so Atsali never had a chance, whatever she dressed like. (C) Both (A) and (B), with him making the mistaken assumption that Nadette is a guy, based on her boyish looks. And, I suppose, also (D) He loses control, turns into a werewolf, and has to be put on a bus to Montana for the safety of him and all around him.

There, I've made my wild-ass speculations and predictions. Now we can just sit back and see what is actually going to happen. I'll go make some popcorn.

- I fell asleep kinda early Sunday eve, and upon re-awaking at an odd hour Monday morn, I find Two Pages of comments come 3am-ish.

- Dude does look a little funny but:
A) He has to have a unique 'look' established, but we've only just seen this little bit of him so far &

B) Paul has forgotten how to draw dudes, cause you know ... who cares about dudes? ( :| )

- 8 Ball t-shirt. (Naaaaaaawwwww, he don't read no forum posts, do he?)

- Nadette as Wing-Man, when they both've tried hard not to let Atsali's wings get out, are at a different Coffee Shop from where a 'darkwing' might manifest behind the counter, and... and...., I cant quite grasp the third thing.

OK, back to Sleep. Perchance to Dream, and mayhap 'reset'...

Flighty? Yes, literally. Hormone ridden? Yes, that's part of the problem. Ding-dong? We'll have to see how Atsali manages this. If she can keep it together and avoid making Jacob think she's got feathers for brains, they'll be off to a good start.
Thor wrote:Is it too soon to hate him? Because all it took was one glimpse for me.
Probably best to wait until there's a reason to hate him. Like he drowns puppies in the bathtub, or engages in prank telephone calls, or worships Kim Kardashian.

The square eyebrows ARE a bit disconcerting...

Or cares for 'Sali enough to want what's best for her...

Uh... what?

Perhaps you mean another male character who shows up briefly, then spends most of the rest of the time off stage...

1. This arc is starting to resemble one of many Manga about high school life without very much ecchi.

2. Jacob is not scared of girls, he is disdainful of them. As his sister said they are not all flighty ding-dongs. This means Jacob has met several who were. I imagine he has been hit on by them and doesn't like it. Given the behavior of some of the fringe para's I wouldn't blame him either. What I do see as a problem is how the heck is Sali going to be able to prove she is not a ding-dong? While ther are times when she comes across all adult and smart, there are many times when she is a ding dong!

3. Sali has invested a lot of herself into this meeting. Too much maybe? She wants to be liked for herself and not as a siren which is good. But all this mental anguish over whether or not some lies her versus lust is almost setting herself up to fail.

4. Bringing Nadette along for moral support is a bit risky. Without doing anything to interfere she could subtly undermine this attempt and hope for a rebound from Sali. Don't think she will but it is possible.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Nadette has the hots for Atsali and can see the future- Atsali has the hots for Jacob and is going into a tailspin as she approaches him (He looks older than she by a legally frightening margin, BTW). Nadette has her act together and Jacob has zero tolerance for 'ding dongs', i.e. creatures of the nature that Atsali is demonstrating...
What if Jacob takes a shine to Nadette (who saw this coming), crushing poor Atsali so that Nadette is left there to 'pick up the pieces'?

I hate doing this, but to go along with what eee said... what?

Okay let me try to recall all of the male characters in the comic. There was Shelly's best bud who I've sadly forgotten, who was literally put on the bus so to speak. At least it was to elope with someone he loved, though I'd be shocked to not see them again cause said love is Jet's sister.

We've got Darren, good 'ol Darren. Good ol' Darren who was dropped like a hot potato so the girl's could spend more time at a fancy Paranormal Nightclub. I miss Darren.

Kevin and... his friend, who I've also sadly forgotten the name of cause he's not been seen in forever but is apparently still with Jin so that's good. But of course Kevin's been... sidelined, hopefully not permanently.

Officer McBun's, oh hey another one I can't remember the name of cause we barely see him.

Monica's old Boss, who we'll never see again cause she quit... for reasons and now we'll never see the cute shipping of him and Phix. Poor guy looked smitten with her human form.

But you see where I'm going here right? Most of the guys are used so little that you could easily forget their names, those who were used enough to stand out were removed from the story for dumb reasons(Darren, Kevin) usually. The comic needs more guys. I've never once seen a big ol' disclaimer that the entire comic has to revolve around nothing but women. Golden Girls had plenty of male characters, Charmed, Buffy, I could go on but... Something being focused through a woman's point of view doesn't mean the story must be devoid of the opposite sex.

I'd like Jacob to become a thing. Maybe he is gay, but whether he becomes Atsali's beau, ends up ironically with Nadette or just turns out to be another friend to add to Atsali's Girl Meets World environment I'd just like to see a little bit of variety when it comes to the sexes.
